Its funny... I come here to see if it is really a place where strong freedom of speech is supported. I do a few "test fires" on a few things here and there. You know, the stuff one would say to ruffle some feathers and really test the situation...
Then an odd thing happens. I end up getting randomly banned here and there on a few different and completely unrelated platforms where I have unlinked and unrelated accounts. One where I have been for a very long time and another one much more recent... Is there a datamining operation happening here on Noster? Serious question? Is there a datamining operation happening here that is subtly linking unrelated posts here to access to places like Discord or (others) ? The timing is extremely suspect.
If that is the case then this Social Credit Score shit is a hell of a lot more advanced than people think it is...
Still no way to filter the ching-chongs out of my feed...

What is really trippy is this shit... If BTC depegs from the dollar, it goes up!

Having been banned from many online platforms for various reasons... usually for carefully pushing ideas that are hot-button topics for people until I am reported and banned... I learned a heck of a lot about the importance of free speech. On a very large platform the effect I am about to describe is less pronounced. On a small one though... it is very prevalent.
If a platform will ban someone because of an unsavory idea then a specific event will happen across that platform over time! The only people who will remain are those who not only are against that idea but also those who support censorship of speech! You get a double-dose there! In very short order the platform is full of people who enjoy censorship of speech and the absolute blocking of unsavory ideas by erasing them completely from existence!
For the 0 people who read this today, contemplate this a bit over a long time period and think about the results on the 'population' that will remain on the platform over time. Even a very small and obvious set of banned information will leave a platform with an overabundance of censorship nazis as potential long term users flow in and out of the platform. A very interesting thing indeed. The censorship-lovers remain and love the platform because they are always right and the longer they are there the more right they are and the more often they are right as time goes on! Proof that they are so smart.
Censorship of speech is cultural poison.
I got Stacks on my mind ...
Is there some way to filter for language? No offense to people who speak all sorts of weird stuff there but I can't read it and its just clutter. Wen Filter?
