As I mentioned before - I truly believe that retrogaming devices will lead the path to open source mobile phone devices running plain Linux on ARM CPUs. There are many many manufacturers already, these devices already run both Android and Linux. The experience is optimized. The hardware is close to top tier. E.g. here AYN Odin 3 that you can get for $350:

It's imperative to teach your kids how to deal with abuse online. They should know exactly what to do when a new anonymous account starts talking to them, they should know what to do when a link leads them to a page with inappropriate content, they should know how to verify the apps they download, how to protect their identity, etc. Same as how we teach them to not cross a street before checking for cars...
