I have some questions for @BitBlik , 2 sets: App in general: 1) What can be done while waiting for the counterparty to provide a code? For example, can I leave the app, switching to another one while shopping on the same device? 2) Regarding liquidity: this assumes someone is monitoring offers - so we are basically dependent on Polish daytime (and holidays)? 3) How long is a BLIK code valid? Can I generate one in advance for later use (e.g., a few minutes ahead) to avoid bothering the cashier? Troubleshooting: A) How long does it typically take for the coordinator to reach out via DM? Is it measured in days or hours? Does response time depend on whether I'm the taker or maker? B) Nostr DMs are finicky; some apps don't work well or refuse cooperation with external signers like Amber. Should I switch to some preferred client? C) I believe I encountered a bug and want to report it, but can't enable logging anywhere. If I provide the date and time of the event, can you retrieve any relevant data? D) During disputes, the "Pay/Buy" option appears inactive on the main screen, though I can create a new payment offer via the right-side submenu. Is this a bug? E) While the HTLC is settled - Dispute is in orange state - but why? If manually confirmed (I assume by coordinator) the dispute is in 'Coordinator is in review' state, is this not dependent on HTLC status? Thank you for info on this, I'm not in hurry.

There is a searchable database, made by our state news outlet that, utilizing long-term borrowing statistics from big Prague public library, attempts to recommend other books when searched, based on what people borrow altogether with the book user search for. Nothing new - simple algo, yet it's with clear UI and no bloat around. Also this is based on library data, not on eshop data (usually not publicly available and smaller sample per shop). So looking at what a Czech bitcoiner is doing here. And yes. If someone will borrow the 'Inventing Bitcoin - Yan Pritzker', he also borrow some Bitcoin and also more Bitcoin :D Nothing unexpected tbh. (I know, small sample - even in times of bull.) Seeing yesterday a lot of positive references for @BitBlik proxy - decided to try it as well. (Experienced bug possibly - overall if working it's great service, really.) This was my first use. So logged into a merchant, loaded basked with items and proceeded to payment. Opened the @BitBlik app v0.7.0 > Pay BLIK > Entered amount > copied the LN payment info > switched to my LN wallet > sent sats. (Payment status showed 'pending HTLC' due to hold invoice, I waited here a little bit until there is timeout and returned back into bitblik, didn't realize it's hodl invoice to that is why). Upon return, the 'Waiting for a Taker' appeared. Unfortunately offer expired, presenting 2 options: New offer - same amount / Go Home. And here the troubles start I think. Because none of the offered actions worked, remained on the same screen regardless of the action performed. I had to force-quit the app and restart it. The next offer ended flawlessly; I received the code, and the counterparty confirmed it in the Blik app. For the first transaction, I did not see any code at all. Later, I found out that repeatedly clicking 'New offer' likely created multiple duplicate entries. Several returned the error: "Offer details missing or invalid. Sometimes in the main menu, an option appeared (full screen or the info for one of the offers) - once I was able to click on 'Cancel' for such offer. And one reappeared, presumably the first and I can later (an hour later) choose the 'Invalid BLIK code' - I had no chance to leave the screen (I didn't see any code at all). This stuck on waiting for a code or dispute. The HTLC settled - maybe 3 hrs later. So unfortunately ended up paying twice. Looking at the taker - he is the same npub for both the OK and malfunction one. It is, I think, a bug in the app, not with the coordinator. (And the BLIK counterparty cannot see 2 payments being charged, used only one code. Truth is, I have no way to prove this.) There is an Offer Conflict Reported with contact info for coordinator. Sent message - so far have no info from him, but he has already settled the payment. I was thinking to fill an issue on GH (there is link in app for repo) but the repo is now in archived state. And new one has no issues. Have a lot of prtscn made along the way - this could be eventually shared more privately, but how? Don't know what to do and expect.

There are some npubs producing spam (such as Based Truth these days). Would like to somehow block this noise across nostr so in Jumble I chose for the mute action. Jumble presented two mute options: privately or publicly. However when the action is performed, a popup informs me that I don't have yet any list to be found. And if there is any existing elsewhere, creating one would overwrite the older one. Unsure if I do have any, going thru all clients in use if there is any such option in the settings, as I recall possibly muting some already. An yes, in Amethyst, there is under Settings - Security filters - Blocked content. A two rows - Blocked Users (empty) and Spammers - one entry (have no idea how this one was populated). If the action to Block someone is selected from the note, I'm presented in Amethyst with Block action and no info if it's public action or private. Because have only Spammer and no Mute in Amethyst, proceeded with the mute from Jumble, private option. And now the mute in Jumble = Blocked in Amethyst - same action resulting in two different presentations of the result. This is yet another part of nostr UX that make it hard to decide for an action. Mute in one, Block on another. Action is Private/Public vs no info about the action visibility at all. #UX #mute

Installed the @Deepmarks.org - could it solve my problem? As of now after logging in, none of my bookmarks could be seen. Should some settings be tweaked to fetch them? Also side question - why this app is listed alongisde Amber as the signer app? View quoted note →

"The first tell is word abuse, and underneath it, a manufactured fog. Either the author is confused and the fog is accidental, or the author wants you confused and the fog is the point." [...] "the other person had adopted a non-standard private definition of the key term and built their entire position around it. I call it definition masturbation: the intellectual pleasure of a private distinction that generates no shared understanding." == There is another possibility, which happens to me quite often: the inability to express oneself clearly in a non-native language. This sometimes evokes similar feelings, but the distinction becomes clear later when the conversation fails to flow naturally and one party recognizes the disconnect. So the Hanlon perhaps. TIL the Proton does not allow to pay for an account with BTC in case the user signed up using the affil link. Unless the user persuades the support in advance, knowing this, account may end with no subscription being active. And support struggles to understand what is the request, my friend have 14+ emails exchanged with them only because of this. The option for Reactivate ends with 'Please add a payment method before reactivating your subscription.'. The credits can't be used, as they are not considered a payment method. The sentence 'When your subscription renews, we will apply any available credits before we charge the payment method above' only applies for already active subscriptions, a new account doesn't have one yet. This is really troublesome if you have a domain tied to the account. Despite credits being present, Proton will not use them because a subscription is not yet allowed for the account. Adding as one of Proton quirks I do not like, requires you to think really in advance and eventually undergo a lot of communication. #proton

In 2026 the PWA shortcut, app icon, still disappearing from the OS environment. To get it back without the reinstall do in: chrome://apps/ > right click on the PWA and select Create shortcut (yes yet again). Really annoying doing this repeatedly because just random app disappear in random time all the time. It is still installed in the OS, just the reference to it gets mangled somehow. This makes them totally unusable for general public.

TIL: a) the eSim company Sparks doesn't even have 1 year package offer on the company webpage. This is on MobiMatter only (or elsewhere also? idk). b) it's Israel company (whois ⌄ ): org-name: SPARKS COMMUNICATIONS LTD country: IL org-type: LIR address: Emmek Yizrael 5 St address: 5592705 address: Ganny Tikva address: ISRAEL So one of the most popular choices in the eSim industry (also with basically no KYC or weak one) could collect a lot of data about it's users. Maybe there is a reason why they have almost the best offers everywhere.

One Big Beautiful Bill Act Reading book about migration routes from latam (The Beast: Riding the Rails and Dodging Narcos on the Migrant Trail - Óscar Martínez) and sourcing info about the The Wall. Because there is info in the book stating the earliest build parts of the wall are from the material leftovers after first gulf war. Interesting. And now looking at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection page there is Smart Wall Map (or nowadays used to be - with no explanation there is none, only some basic information remaining) and they state: "CBP is utilizing funds from the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act (H.R. 1)” to construct a border barrier system, or a “Smart Wall”, which includes a combination of primary and secondary steel bollard wall, waterborne barriers, patrol roads, and the technology required to tie it all together, such as cameras, lights, and other detection technology." Like lol; One Big Beautiful Bill Act. This hit hard especially after the book. What a name.
