Five cities. Five gatherings. One idea worth understanding deeply.
This weekend, Bitshala meetups take place across Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Kolkata, and Chandigarh.
Different people. Different questions. Different paths into Bitcoin.
But the principle remains the same: Learn how it works. Understand why it matters. Then build.

Join us today (20-Aug-2026) at 8:00 PM IST / 2:30 PM UTC for the next session of The Cryptographic Foundations of Bitcoin ⚡️
This week, we’ll continue our journey into one-way functions (OWFs)—the fundamental building blocks behind Bitcoin’s security.
We’ll move from theory to the mathematics that protects your keys:
i) The Factoring Assumption: Why multiplying large primes is easy, while reversing the process is hard—and how this idea supports cryptographic security.
ii) Proving Security: An introduction to reduction proofs and how cryptographers demonstrate that breaking one problem would require solving another supposedly hard problem.
iii) Bitcoin's Math (DLP & ECC): Explore the Discrete Logarithm Problem, generators, and how these concepts map directly to Bitcoin’s secp256k1 elliptic curve.
iv) Building Digital Signatures: See how a one-way function can be used to construct a digital signature scheme, including the Lamport one-time signature.

This week, we’ll explore Firefish—a Bitcoin-backed lending marketplace that helps BTC holders access liquidity without selling their bitcoin.
Firefish connects borrowers with investors, using Bitcoin collateral escrow rather than traditional custodial lending. Investors can fund these loans and earn interest, while borrowers retain exposure to their BTC.
We’ll be joined by Finn from Firefish for an introduction, discussion, and live Q&A.

Why is BTC Known as Internet Money? | Hadapsar, Pune
🗓 Saturday, 22nd August
🕙 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Bitcoin isn’t money because of its cryptography; it’s money because it survives an environment where every participant is assumed hostile.
To understand why Bitcoin functions as native internet money, you have to look past the surface-level protocol and examine the adversarial engineering that makes its state machine virtually impossible to alter or shut down.
