How can Mostro do escrow without touching your sats? The answer: Lightning Hold Invoices. A brilliant mechanism nobody explained well. Thread 👇 1/ When you sell Bitcoin on Mostro, you're asked to pay a Lightning invoice. But it's not a regular invoice. 2/ It's a "hold invoice" — your sats are locked in the Lightning channel, but NOT delivered to the other side. They're literally "mid-air." 3/ Only when the buyer confirms fiat payment AND the seller confirms receipt, Mostro releases the sats to the buyer. 4/ If something goes wrong, sats automatically return to the seller. Te explico cómo funciona 👇 1/ Cuando creas una orden en Mostro, tu mensaje se cifra con la clave del destinatario (NIP-44). Hasta aquí, normal. 2/ Pero luego ese mensaje se "sella" dentro de otro evento, firmado con una clave efímera que se usa UNA sola vez y se descarta. 3/ Finalmente, se envuelve en un "gift wrap" — otro evento con timestamp aleatorio (puede ser de hace 2 días o de mañana) para que nadie pueda correlacionar tiempos. Resultado: Los relays ven eventos genéricos. No saben quién habla con quién, ni cuándo realmente se envió. Esto no es opcional en Mostro. Es el default. "Don't trust, verify" isn't a slogan — it's a way of life. Mostro wraps your messages in three layers of encryption. NIP-59 Gift Wrap ensures that not even relays know who trades with whom. Here's how it works 🧵👇 1/ When you create an order in Mostro, your message is encrypted with the recipient's key (NIP-44). Standard stuff. 2/ Then that message gets "sealed" inside another event, signed with a one-time ephemeral key that's discarded after use. 3/ Finally, it's wrapped in a "gift wrap" — another event with a randomized timestamp (could be 2 days ago or tomorrow) so nobody can correlate timing. Result: Relays see generic events. They don't know who's talking to whom, or when messages were actually sent. This isn't optional in Mostro. It's the default.
