Two questions we get asked often 🧌 ❓ Is Mostro an app? Mostro is a protocol, not an app. It defines the rules for two people to exchange bitcoin without intermediaries. The apps you use to trade are clients that implement that protocol. Thinking Mostro is an app is like thinking Bitcoin is a wallet. ❓ Do I need to register or verify my identity? No. Mostro doesn't require registration, email, phone, or any type of KYC. Your identity is automatically generated in the client you use and only you control it through a 12-word recovery phrase.

In most services, privacy is a setting you can turn on. In Mostro 🧌 it's the default mode. Every trade uses different keys. Communications travel encrypted through Nostr. The node doesn't know who you are, it only coordinates the trade. Privacy isn't a setting. It's the architecture.

Mostro 🧌 uses Nostr to communicate. What is that? Nostr is a decentralized messaging protocol. Nobody controls it. There's no central server that can censor it or shut it down. When you buy or sell on Mostro, messages between you and your counterpart travel encrypted through Nostr. Nobody can read them. Nobody can block them ⚡ That's why Mostro doesn't need a central database or a company behind it. The protocol exists as long as people use it.
