I like the idea that Fedi and Cashu are planning to prove reserves by orchestrating bank runs on a regular basis. I have a question though. Do they rely upon every ecash owner within the mint moving their funds out on the same day? If so, then how will they get everyone to participate? If the mint iteself is able to force a bank run on their customers, then do the owners of the ecash tokens really have autonomy over their own funds? @arkinox

Bitcoin can become the reserve currency for the world. Before that tho, it will likely become the currency of the Internet. Instead of paying with our data and our attention, we can pay for content and services with bitcoin. Instead of signing up for a payment plan for a bundle of media that we will never own, we can pay per item. Discreetly, instantly without middlemen and without leaving a trace. Creators can be rewarded for the quality of their work rather than for their ability to induce a click from you. Nostr and bitcoin lightning make the Internet a better place to hang out 😉

If I were a country at war with the UK, then I would offer free money to people when they register on their phones with their bank details. Once there is a sufficient number of people registered, a message can be sent to each of them offering more money to engage in terrorist attacks. Some of them will take up the offer and carry out drone strikes on key locations within the country. Simultaneous attacks on all banking data centres would take down electronic payment systems. Without the ability to buy food, society would descend into chaos quite quickly. They might wait until cash has completely gone out of circulation before they do this in order to achieve maximum effect. Centralised digital banking is a security risk that will one day be exploited.
