The old policy tried, with fraud and irregularities, to usurp the real result of the scrutiny process. Therefore, this recognition of Ecuador is based on respect for the legitimate will of the people. this nation, expressed forcefully at the polls and supported by the people with the mobilization in the streets during the last few days. Respect for democracy, justice and electoral transparency is not a question of ideologies. It's about principles. In these crucial and decisive moments, we have the moral obligation, without room for hesitation or lukewarmness, to say out loud which side we are on. We proudly say: we are not on the side of indolence. What happens there compromises us all. From our space we will do everything possible to prevent the region from becoming the cradle of impunity and the taking away of citizen rights. The will of all people is NOT touched, it is sacred. Because Ecuador calls on the international community to respect the Venezuelan sacrifice and to join in this effort to protect this country's real decision to be free again.
