I honestly think we’ve gotten to a point where running Linux is easier than windows for a normie. If you use PopOS or Ubuntu, it can abstract away the need to know any commands. Your files are never put in a weird place because of OneDrive. Installing new apps and performing updates are done primarily through a GUI.
I really don’t know what to think k of this Venezuela stuff. But I know a ton of people want me to feel one way or another, which only makes me more cautious of forming an opinion.
I recently overhauled my home network by ditching my big tech mesh networking gear in favor of a pfsense router/firewall and managed APs. Not only does this increase my network security, it also massively improves privacy. Using pfBlockerNG, I can easily block known advertising, malware, and porn domains at the network level, meaning all of my devices are automatically protected. Look at these stats for just a 24 hour period. This is for essentially just two users, my wife and I, and we’re typically busy taking care of our two kids 😅 image
Love all the Americans telling Venezuelans what they should believe, how they should feel, or what they should do next 🙄
New Mexico passed a law for free daycare, saying it’s an “investment in our children”. Because all the studies show encouraging mothers to work and letting others raise their kids is truly the best thing for them. Or something like that…
My 6 year old son got a little digital camera for Christmas and it’s so cool to see him see the world in a different light. We just went for a hike and he kept finding cool stuff to take pictures of. Stuff he previously would completely ignore.
I’m pretty convinced that most UIs would be better served by almost never changing. UX devs are constantly redesigning things but the end result is rarely any better than previous, and changing where everything is just pisses people off.
