I’ve been avoiding doing this coding project for quite some time.
This week, I hit a breaking point and just started the damn thing.
Long ways to go, but I’m really stoked about how it’s going so far. Not a vibe coded project, but I am using my self hosted LLM to ask questions, get feedback, and troubleshoot. I’m really enjoying using it in this way.
As a concept, self driving cars are incredible. Enable long commutes without the nightmare of fighting traffic? Yes, please.
However, self driving cars are completely dependent on centralized tech. This centralization creates an absolute nightmare for freedom of movement. Govts WILL use this to restrict you.
We desperately need a revolution in self hosting. I have no idea if it would even be possible to have a sovereign self driving car, but if self driving becomes as ubiquitous as proponents claim, not having total control over our vehicles will be Orwellian to a degree that, I believe, is unheard of.
Can you even claim you completed your home repair if you don’t go to the hardware store twice?
Just read a thing that said AI CapEx is 1.2% of US GDP.
Imagine if the bubble pops (because running AI models at current prices is unsustainable) and all this compute infrastructure becomes distressed.
Some savvy bitcoin miners might pick up GPUs for pennys. And then hash rate explodes 🤯🤯
