If people truly understood how little tech companies care about security, I think people would behave differently. It's so much worse than people realize.
Do you guys ever think about how insane it is that Satoshi has managed to stay anonymous all this time? The level of skill and discipline to not expose any definitive proof of your identity on the internet is truly incredible.
I listened to Saylor's speech at Bitcoin Policy Institute last night. While I generally like him, two things really stood out to me. I feel like he makes massive assumptions and doesn't explain them, at times. Like he said that if the US offered a "digital" dollar, the USD market share of currency would go to 30% from about 13%. I don't see how it being more digital than it already is changes anything, so I wish he had explained. Also, I don't see any reason why we need the dollar at all. He insists Bitcoin is not a threat to the dollar, but I completely disagree. There is absolutely no reason Bitcoin can't eventually be a widely adopted medium of exchange.
One of the main reasons I want to escape the fiat mines is to study more. I feel so cheated by my public school education. I know very little about history. That which I do know is certainly slanted towards what they want me to know, not what actually happened. Or even just rounded out by different opinions. But with work, family, social life, and trying to build something outside of that, it's nearly impossible to find time for any meaningful study that doesn't go towards escape.
What are some self hosted first apps that have successfully monetized? What software would you pay for that was designed to only be hosted on something like a #Start9 server?
Are there any Nostr signer apps (like Alby chrome ext) for iOS or Android? #askNostr
I uninstalled Primal from my phone. I was getting way too distracted with mostly meaningless stuff. Checked it on my computer for about 15 minutes this morning and now I'm going to go do real stuff. Already feels way better.
