Hopi Tobacco, it's a new one for me this year. I don't smoke but it has good medical value and supposedly keeps the pests away. I started some in a mix of compost and our native soil but I'm going to also try starting some in just our native soil since we live in Hopi territory. Medicinally it is good for parasites and to use as a poultice on bug bites and stings for relief as well as an anti-inflammatory. If it works as a pest repellent then I'll be planting it around our garden every year regardless of if I need to replenish my apothecary. #grownostr #herbs #medicinalherbs #gardening #permies #permaculture #homesteading

Don't judge, we're tired and yes we used paper plates but the quail was delicious! We wanted simple so just the quail, onion, garlic and butter with a little bit of seasoning. Today my husband went and did an electrical job diagnosing an issue with a guys diy solar system and he was paid in part with quail the guy had butchered the day before! I'm so excited as quail will be one of our first animals on our homestead. He's now cooking a few up with onion, garlic and butter. He's so excited to have quail since it's been about 20 years since he had it last. We're working on not only building his business but also developing community. We now have a local source for purchasing quail when we're ready for them! I'll post another pick of them done!
