Alright, anyone who does sourdough at high elevation, like 5,800ft? I'm going to try to start my starter in the next few days. I have lived at high elevation and baked without issue but sourdough has me slightly nervous. I had a starter years ago but it was gifted and we were only at 3,000ft not almost 6,000ft. Spent my day studying herbs and figuring out which herbs I want to use to make a focus and calming tea for my ADHD. Now tomorrow I'll probably see about actually starting to mix a blend and see how well it works for myself and my husband. Proof that you don't need all the fancy grow lights and racks to start your seeds. These are started in reused plastic food containers. We recently moved onto our homestead, which is 40 acres of raw land, absolutely no infrastructure beyond our outdoor shower that we just built. We live currently live in our truck camper, so I don't have space for grow lights and racks. I've seen people give advice to others that either didn't have the money to buy the fancy racks or the space. I want to inspire other to think creatively when learning to grow their own food. We picked up some steel panels from a local scrap yard, we plan to use them as a fence around our garden. A solid fence will help with keeping the rodents (mice, pack rats and rabbits) at bay as well as help block the high winds we get. And the best part is I love the pattern. Jerusalem Artichokes came in today, first time growing them. We picked them up mainly for a living fence but we will also try to eat them and use them as animal fooder once we are setup for livestock.
