First phase of friend's/ customer's solar project done and been running for the last week! Best part is after the first full day of the system being online they haven't had to run their generator! We're starting on Monday to add the third and final array for their system. Donkey update! We were coming home just after the sun set and they were on our road coming in. They got scared by the lights and car. I called out to them and they stopped running. We talked to them from the car to help calm them down a bit. Jokingly told them that if they wanted waterto follow us back, we were about a half a mile from our property. We got back to our property and about 10 minutes later they walked up! We got them some water and gave them pets and they left to go bed down for the night. #grownostr #donkeys #homesteading

Got about 3/4 of an inch of rain and some cooler temps last night. Grateful that we didn't get any of the severe flash flooding that the Grand Canyon and Vegas had last night. We had some periods of intense rain, the dirt roads are slick with clay and the wash is running this morning. We are definitely are learning to drive in this slick clay, it's nothing like anything we grew up with and sticks like crazy. We'll be getting mud tires for our f350 soonest, just so we can get in and out of our property and we have a decent road compared to many of the other roads in the area. #grownostr #nature #rain #monsoon #Arizona

Our property seems to be a place the stray livestock come to visit and now I'm apparently watering two donkeys. We've been seeing them off in the distant for a few weeks but couldn't get close enough to tell if they were wild or livestock, well yesterday they showed up on our property and were the sweetest things and I was finally able to see that one was branded so I guess I'll be calling the livestock commissioner to see if he can contact BLM to figure out who owns them. The brand is a BLM brand and she's 6 years old but we can't figure out the rest of the symbols which say what state and area she came from. We're thinking the light one might be her adult baby. I gave them water yesterday and refilled a bucket today in the same spot and when I got home from dropping my husband off for a work trip the bucket was pretty much empty with more hoof prints around it. I'm kind of sad I missed them, they were so sweet and just wanted pets yesterday. I'm really hoping that they've escaped and not dumped, though dumping a branded animal just seems stupid. If they are dumped I've already have a new home for them with some friends who will spoil them. #grownostr #donkeys #livestock

First one completed of three custom solar racks for a customer. We're designing it so it's movable if needed but will stand up to our high winds. Each one will hold six panels. This is an add on to their current solar system because the original company that put it in didn't size their needs right and only gave them 4000w of solar to power a 2000+ system ft home and homestead. They've been running their backup propane generator at least twice a day to compensate for what is missing from their current system. #grownostr #solar #electrician #construction #offgrid

This was a first time seeing a White-Lined Sphinx Hummingbird Moth. I'm not a fan of moths, they creep me out, might have been from working at a ski resort year round. End of summer beginning of fall we would get an invasion of moths in the lodge and I'm totally creeper out by them even more than I used to be. But this was kind of cool but still creepy because it's a giant moth!! But I'm grateful that he was pollinating my squash and yesterday I noticed that I finally have female flowers so squash is in our future! #grownostr #permies #permaculture #gardening #homesteading #moth #pollinators

Our tomatoes were mostly eaten by rabbits and pack rats. I was able to finally protect our garden enough that I have one cherry tomato plant that finally produced one tomato! First tomato grown on our property!! You know you married an incredible man when you're visiting family and he texts you pictures of your garden just because he knows you've been waiting for the Jerusalem Artichokes to flower and the new seeds to have their birthday. An hour amd a half down the road this morning and we're stopping for breakfast now that it's light out.
