๐Ÿง€ / ๐Ÿฅญ๐Ÿดโ€โ˜ ๏ธ If you're wondering why I unfollowed you, it's because I moved you into a private list. Also, consider not calculating your value as a person based on whether or not a cheese packet unfollowed you.
I didn't know this existed until Cheese Jr. took his license tests and the VEs mentioned it to him. IT COSTS EIGHTEEN DOLLARS. That deal is available only to new hams within 6 months of being issued a call sign. It has a good mic, good speaker, intuitive menus, Chirp programming, female SMA connector...the list goes on. QRZ issues a code for 70% off the list price after they verify your license status. Our kid was able to buy the radio, extended battery, and a programming cable for $40 shipped. Spending his own money on his own gear really pumped him up. So if you know anybody who's on the fence about getting an amateur radio license, make sure they know there's a very decent, and inexpensive, transceiver available to them. #hamstr #hamradio #amateurradio image
@Cheese Jr. strikes again! He passed his ham radio General license test while the FCC was sleeping. He didn't even get his call sign for the Technician exam yet. ๐Ÿคฃ I'm super excited for the kid. He'll get access to most of the fun stuff right out of the gate. #hamradio #hamstr
Weird #GrapheneOS thing today... My car stereo sounded like screechy butt, and this was a big deal considering it's a pretty new car and should sound decent. Because I like to fool with stuff, I used Android Auto in a Private Space to see what would happen. I then noticed that the "Spatial Audio" option was enabled in the bluetooth settings. I turned that off because screw processing. Then I decided Android Auto is a shitcoin and deleted it. But then my radio sounded bad ass. When I looked at the regular profile bluetooth settings, the spatial audio option doesn't even exist. So my radio sounded poopy, but the thing that made it poopy couldn't be turned off, or even found without doing the dumb Android Auto thing. So, in the end, all is well now. In a very roundabout way. That is a long and semi-pointless story, but there you go.
Overheard yesterday: "I would homeschool my kids, but we do so many sports." They're NGMI.
Re: whining about @SimpleX Chat because some people need a little reminder: - They were very clear, a long time ago, about the need to ensure that payments could be made and privacy not be compromised. Some type of token was mentioned. This is not a surprise. If you don't pay attention to the goings-on of the tech you use, GFY. - Nothing is free. If you're butthurt because shit won't be free, GFY. - You can self-host your own SimpleX server, or any other chat protocol server, or pay/beg your nerd friends to do it for you. If you don't have the means or the will to do this, GFY. - I love you all and GFY.
