Mostly Bitcoin Only. My stuff is TLDR on purpose so you can pick/choose what you want. Bitcoin Store of Value first but then MoE, least friction. Open Source is King. Filters are not Censorship. Bitcoin is Time (Gigi). Timechain. Ocean. Bitcoin Knots. I am a 35 year BI Developer using a competing product of Microstrategy but now am a MSTR /Saylor supporter. Non-Partisan. npub1mp77smkmq77zwp3d8ke2let567cype0m3lhwx7v97gu2fans40qsn7vzdd
Never too late to revisit historical comments on Bitcoin specifically with the Bitcoin White Paper. Since the white paper, version 0.10 of Bitcoin has flawlessly executed/transacted almost 100 Trillion dollars, worldwide, speed of light, open source ledger on a network with over 99% uptime spanning 14 years owned by no person or corporation. Economic Power to All the People Everywhere on Planet Earth. Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System Technical people on the 9 page Satoshi White paper: Jack Dorsey: "Poetry" Guy Kawasaki: "Genius Math" Michael Saylor: "Digital Steel" Investors/Politicians: Warren Buffet: Ponzi Scheme Elizabeth Warren: Ponzi Scheme (Politicians want to control and there is no getting Bitcoin back into the stable.) Charlie Munger: Rat Poison
#asknostr We know if someone guesses your 12 word seed phrase that’s bad but could two people ever generate the same 12 word seed phrase? Base layer would not allow? (Long day, probably idiotic question.)
A blast from the past, because Bitcoin is such a beast what was said in its past is as profound as what is said today or tomorrow. Pre-dating Block 1. Today's Bitcoin Topic: FRICTION This is one of my top Podcasts where Saylor sat down with Saif. This is actually still 'controversial' and it deals with Bitcoin the Currency versus Bitcoin the Property (Store of Value.) Bottom line, Saylor simply states there is room, room for CBDCs or other countries to have Digital Currencies. BUT you don't have to adopt them and it won't impact Bitcoin the Digital Property. There is just so much more 'friction' in the former rather than the latter.
When it comes to speaking about Bitcoin, there is no second best.
What the HELL is going on with our world? How can we even discuss 'fixing the world money' when everyone seems bonkers? Aliens, eating/not eating something, any death associated with the jab, conspiracy theories... If that isn't enough, then here you go and this doesn't even start with 'Florida man...': In China: "Chinese zoo denies its sun bears are people in costume" https://www.cnn.com/2023/08/01/china/sun-bear-claims-china-hangzhou-zoo-intl-hnk/index.html In Japan: Japanese Man Drops $14,000 for Custom-Made Collie Dog Costume The unidentified individual says he's now fulfilled his dream of "becoming an animal." https://www.complex.com/life/a/brad-callas/japanese-man-drops-14000-for-custom-made-collie-dog-costume
The SEC actually understands Bitcoin and Coinbase better than the CEO of Coinbase. Maybe Fink's BlackRock does have a better chance of approval. I'd like Joe Carlasare's opinion.
It is troubling in our society how people with an Internet connection can become experts on any and every topic. Smarter than the medical doctors and cancer researchers. Experts on war one day and running a business the next. I tell people frequently I am a hack. I am not an expert in economics or Bitcoin. I have spent 1000s of hours in recent years studying but I would never say expert. Even after spending decades working with specific software I never said I was an expert in it because I learned something every day. Coding was the only way I could cope inside Corporate America. It can be lethal to be so smug and arrogant to think by 'watching some YouTube videos or listening to podcasts' you can be an expert in a topic. Just like I can't play violin by watching videos without 10,000 hours of mastering some craft or be a surgeon doing an appendectomy from a .pdf I saw online with the step-by-step instructions. This is a sad story to me. I feel bad for the young boy, his parents made a terrible choice and they are all dead. Ignorance kills. Be humble. Stack Sats. Be like Satoshi. Perhaps plan for the day you walk away if you are not helping.
Compare Micheal Saylor to Elon Musk. Not all Billionaires are the same and the guy with the most money isn't the winner. I really hope Saylor dethrones Musk for the richest man alive because not only for his stance on Bitcoin but his legacy. What has Musk ever said or done that is as noble as Saylor. Start here and compare: Michael Saylor’s 10 pieces of advice for young people 1. Focus your energy 2. Guard your time 3. Train your mind 4. Train your body 5. Think for yourself 6. Curate your friends 7. Curate your environment 8. Keep your promises 9. Stay cheerful and constructive 10. Upgrade the world Now compare this list to Elon Musk: 1. Focus your energy : F 2. Guard your time: F- 3. Train your mind: D- 4. Train your body: F 5. Think for yourself: D 6. Curate your friends: F 7. Curate your environment: F 8. Keep your promises: F 9. Stay cheerful and constructive: F- 10. Upgrade the world: F Elon reminds me of this website:
I am spending more time over on NOSTR and I can see how much better it is, this is my first post on Primal. My notes: - has a cool vibe to it - https://coracle.social/ has the best reading experience with notes with threads - is good for those who don't like to read and like pictures and memes Other: I just posted how I like to use Alby with the NIP-07 logins and Chrome but I am already switching to saying to use nos2x and then hook in Alby. I want to move my Blog over to Habla, well because NOSTR not Google.
This is probably been discussed a billion times. I am spending more time over here and I like to be using Chrome and Alby. In the past I was using various browsers and nos2x. I was struggling with sites using Alby/Chrome with NIP-07 logins, specifically Habla, Coracle, and Swarmstr. It is an easy fix, you can't assume the check on 'all sites' work and I had to add them in specific to the Alby Chrome extension. 1) Cut and past this into Chrome: chrome://extensions/ 2) Click 'Details' 3) "On Specific Sites" (screenshot) 4) Add sites Tip: You have to do all this via a webpage with the chrome://extensions/ as I could not figure out how to do it directly manipulating the actual installed extension. image
All, This is a personal level post for me on NOSTR. I am motivated to post this based on just listening to my favorite podcast this year, it helps the Bitcoin SPOT ETF development is my favorite subject so far in 2023. This post dedicated to Joe Carlasare's efforts and expert communication skills. In this post, I am using a fake scenario that I report to Gary Gensler at the SEC. The incredible Stephan Livera podcast that went live yesterday. SLP495 JOE CARLASARE – BITCOIN ETF? LAWSUITS AND BITCOIN People crave to belong, it is hard to go against the mantra, the mainstream, the status quo, it is uncomfortable outside personal comfort zones. This is especially true in the Bitcoin Maxi inner circle. I love to write on Bitcoin. It used to only be about cancer, I am successful on the latter as I am a National Level Patient Advocate. I am a hack with Bitcoin/Economics. I haven’t earned my badge, it may take years. I love how with Bitcoin, this is anonymous, not to hide but Bitcoin is the coolest thing that is way bigger and transcends all of us, including anonymous Satoshi. In the past, like with cancer, I have carefully put together posts, using transcripts/PubMed/Journals or typing verbatim what I was hearing. It isn’t easy. I haven’t connected with Bitcoiners online, or offline, and maybe never will. In my large circle, my 75 year old cabin neighbor friend from Wisconsin is the only one as I explained to Matt McCall/Stansberry Research https://twitter.com/Bitcoinapolis55/status/1679832175384883201 For today, thanks to inspiration from Lyn Alden in being my true self, here I am. Keep in mind, decades in Corporate America, challenging my bosses, promoted only twice, no traction. Similar time in the volunteer cancer arena, same approach. Traction. Bitcoin world? No clue and validation is not needed and it is not my motivation. Scenario for this post: I (BR) work at the SEC, Gary Gensler is my boss. It’s time for our weekly, dreaded on both sides, 1on1. BR: “Hey Boss, super excited to talk to you today.” Gary: (not looking up, acting busy, writing down something.) “Have a seat, BR. As you know, I have an ‘open door’ policy and this is your time to talk to me about anything you want, concerns, what is going right etc.” BR: I have heard that a bunch of times, not sure it is sincere? I want to talk to you about Bitcoin and the BlackRock ETF. But I want to do this ‘off the record, gloves off, human to human.’” (Gary finally looks up in dismay, adjusts his glasses, sighs. I am his least favorite employee.) Gary: “Off the record, like every one of our 1on1s? You are a piece of work. Okay, we have 23 minutes as I have to circle back and dialogue and get to done. ” BR: “What are you thinking about BlackRock and the Spot ETF? But first, may I tell you how I am thinking? I always look at people’s motivation. What is yours? Are you looking to be the next Janet Yellen and are managing up to your bosses only? Or is it about your legacy? You know, you are a smart guy, you know Bitcoin is great, you literally taught a course on it at MIT? However, you were right in line with MIT wonder boy SBF? To me, do you have to go to weekly sessions to keep getting the crusted on egg on your face scraped off as you carry around that gallon water bottle to keep washing down the feathers of the crow you can’t stop eating? Gary: “Stop the personal attacks…but that is impossible for you…” BR: “Noted but tell me the truth. This is my time. What is going on with the ARK.BlackRock SPOT ETFs? The SEC is currently in court over Grayscale’s future Bitcoin ETF you rejected. What makes these SPOT ETFs any different? You already pushed back on the original applications saying they needed a ‘surveillance sharing partner’ and some came back with Coinbase. You hate Coinbase and there are SEC lawsuits/allegations against them..emotions still high after FTX? Further, most liquidity of Bitcoin is outside the United States. How could you approve a Bitcoin Spot ETF if you think Bitcoin sucks and the enlisted actors are bad apples as you have yet to officially deem Bitcoin a commodity or a security based on your old school Howey Test?” Gary: “You are out of line…” BR: “You are sideways on the line, blocking progress, refusing to take a stand. Look, I have worked in jobs where ‘time solves all problems’ wait long enough and the problem dies, or wait long enough and bosses like you move on, inaction can be a wonderful thing for the incompetent. Let’s say you did approve the ARK/BlackRock spot BTC ETFs? (you have to approve them all.) Is that more work for your team with ‘limited resources’ and more headaches?” Gary: “Are you willing to put in overtime and work weekends?” BR: “No, I spent decades doing that but never was rewarded. Are you willing to explain this? You know Bitcoin is the ultimate square peg in the round hole and people are saying, BlackRock has an 575-1 approval record when filing with the SEC. You, however, know Bitcoin is different, it has very little adoption, about 1%. Is it easier to piss off the 1% and appease the 99% or is best to do what is right? What’s it going to be boss? Is this where you say you are ‘transparent?’” Gary: “We are done here…if you weren’t such a great coder we would have fired you long ago.” BR: “Thanks a lot Boss even though I have 13 minutes left (big shit ass grin, finger guns pointing at him) be sure to read this one page from Saifedean’s ‘The Bitcoin Standard’ and I will ask if you understand it to your core like I do. See you next week unless you reward me for my bad behavior and cancel my 1on1s which is my motivation. There it is.” ===== I truly hope ARK/Cathie Wood have their Bitcoin SPOT ETF approved first and I know: “Honeybadger(/Bitcoin) don’t care” “Number go up” Bitcoin Fortune Cookie sayings are plentiful and these elicit the most claps in the audience. image
Logic question. The cofounder and current CEO of OpenAI sounds the alarm on AI, yet introduces Worldcoin as if that is a good thing? #asknostr
Podcast Share, I just listened to a really good podcast on Blue Collar Bitcoin: "BCB117_MAURICIO DI BARTOLOMEO: BlackRock ETF & The Next Phase of Bitcoin" This one had Mauricio Di Bartolomeo (co-founder & CSO of Ledn) and he really resonated with me especially this part about 'being your own bank' and the friction that happens with that approach. Mauricio: <snip> "If you were worried about your Bitcoin and your self-custody and you have a fear that your custodian May Fail or that your country might go Rogue you take your steps “become your own bank.” But you know what's really difficult? Telling somebody that they have to become their own bank when they never have, almost impossible. It's like me all of a sudden. it's like me telling my daughter tomorrow “hey sweetie the cops are gone so I'm gonna need you to be you the police so start strapping or even if you don't have these self-defense things there's a pistol protect yourself” or or I went and told my wife “sorry honey the doctors are on strike so as of tomorrow we're all gonna have to start learning these things about how to be a doctor how to heal ourselves and I'm sorry like it's very difficult now.” If you come from Venezuela where you've always had to be your own bank..." ====
I am trying to be on NOSTR more often, just started clicking 'follow' on the 'Follow Suggestions' on Iris. Then I noticed how many were 'OnlyFans' accounts and am manually unfollowing. I am not a prude, this is just not my demographic, married 31 years to someone I am a huge only fan of in that way. Wink. (I still chase her around the house, much to her dismay.)
Probably painfully obvious. NOSTR is incredible, there is one thing I wish was built into the UIs though, links to the NOSTR projects without having to bookmark or worse, text/email myself links? I can't keep up and the NOSTR FAQ/Resources sites change so fast. Examples: Best current places for NOSTR Blogs (I want to move from lame Google) e.g. Habla ? NOSTR Podcasts, music, marketplace\classifieds? What killer apps, outside of Damus/Iris/Snort am I missing that people are using? (e.g. NOSTR Fountain app is one I really like) Finally Swarmstr/ #asknostr ? (i.e. I am doing this wrong, with this post I should have gone to some - unknown to me - Swarmstr link to ask specific questions like this?)
January 24th, 1848. That is when the California Gold Rush started. Bitcoin is the modern day Digital Gold and the Great Worldwide Bitcoin Rush hasn't even started with a one percent adoption as of today. Bitcoin Fever. When will your loved ones catch it? "I have a fever, and the only cure is more Bitcoin." Can someone change this from cowbell to Bitcoin?
