AirPods, particularly in transparency mode, offer an interesting approach to augmented reality. However, to truly enhance their utility, it would be beneficial if there was an external indicator to show whether or not they are in use (maybe a LED?). This would allow others to know if they can initiate a conversation. In the past, the sight of someone wearing headphones was a clear signal not to disturb them, but with the prevalence of AirPods today, that dynamic has shifted. On the other hand, bone-conducting headphones like Sentien don't face this issue, as they don't block the ear canal, ensuring the user is always ready to listen.

So … the Expanse series. Is it worth watching?
I'm not at all surprised that authoritarian politicians would want features like this. From a technical perspective, though, I'm curious about how they would go about implementing them. Would they integrate backdoors into widely used apps with camera access, like WhatsApp? Or would they rely on exploiting zero-day vulnerabilities in operating systems?

"Google Bard is being rolled out in over 180 countries." (not in the EU, though)
"Instagram's Threads is rolling out now to people in more than 100 countries." (not in the EU, though)
Do you see the pattern?
It reminds me of this:
During the communist era, a little boy stands at the border with his father. The boy asks, "Who lives beyond that fence, Daddy?" The father sighs and says, "We do, son, we do..."
So is the Greenlight server and orchestration open-source or is it proprietary and I can only use the client libs to connect to infrastructure run by Blockstream?
Hey @Openvibe!
How about creating timeline only with posts (no replies)?

Struggling to discover varied content on Nostr - I'm interested in more than just Bitcoin and Nostr posts! If your account covers other topics, give me a shout, and I'll be sure to follow! 🙏
Nostr clients are perfect examples of software that should prioritize a local-first approach. However, many Nostr developers still write software as if there's a reliable backend. But in a decentralized network, there isn't one. It's essential to maintain a local state and only synchronize this local state with the relays when necessary.

History lesson: The original codename for #Trezor was "Bitkey". However, we found it a bit too plain and were eager to change it to something more imaginative.
We reached out for people's ideas on what name to use in this forum thread, and in the image below there are some of the suggestions that came our way:
Isn't Slushstickon just great? 😁
Which one is your favorite?
And here is the first commit to the Trezor firmware repository where you can see the old codename being used:

I really laugh out loud when I see websites trying to disguise they are stealing from others by auto-translating the content back and forth into another language.
I've got to admit that "safety risk mannequin" instead of "security threat model" is some next level comedy! 😂

Been offline camping in the woods for the past two days. Did I miss anything?

It's amazing how we use cement and concrete more than all other materials combined, yet people know very little about how it actually works. Watch this amazing video to learn more!

The innovations of Thinkpad and @Trezor users never cease to amaze me.
Introducing: a Trezor implanted into a Thinkpad laptop! 🤯

Every time I start a fast download, my Wi-Fi access point begins to make a high-pitched noise. When the download finishes, the noise stops. Over time, I no longer perceive this as noise; it has become one of my senses, so I unconsciously know whether my computer is downloading something or not. It's quite magical, honestly.
I really appreciate that there are still some people left who can think for themselves and don't view things solely in black and white (since they usually aren't). It's unfortunate that it's typically the other type who participate on Twitter. I believe this is due to the irreversible damage caused by character limit, which has been lifted, but the learned behavior changes slowly.
I am learning an incredible amount just by reading issues and pull requests in llama.cpp!
A few weeks ago, I knew nothing about weight quantization in AI models, had no idea what LoRA was, and was unaware of how badly mmap is broken on Windows.
Contributing to a new open-source project feels like being in a room where everyone is smarter than you. However, after a few weeks, you become one of these smart people, and you can start helping others.
This is truly empowering!
Thank you, @ggerganov, for creating a project like this and making it open-source!
