A lot of WTF and scepticism around this, but it makes perfect sense to me. Particularly as Proton had their funds frozen by PayPal in 2014 and it looked like they were dead in the water. I cannot comment on the quality of the wallet, but as long as it's self-custodial and open source, they have my attention.

I am fundamentally opposed to any app that demands a phone # in order to work. And actually, the idea of a phone # these days seems ... quaint*. So no, I don't have WhatsApp/Signal/Telegram, you absolute Neanderthals. And don't even get me started on wallets that require it.
*I am in fact old enough to have used landline rotary phones, so don't even start with me ...
