PearGuard v1.0.21 is out!
A peer-to-peer parental control app
## What's Changed
### โจ Improvements
- quick setup by age: pick Young child, Pre-teen, Teen or Allowlist only and get a sensible starting set of limits, categories and a bedtime instead of building it by hand
- time windows per app: say "games only 4pm to 6pm" or "social blocked during school hours" for a single app, on the days you choose
- free time: pause every rule for an hour, a few hours or the rest of the day for a sick day, a trip or a reward, then protection turns itself back on
- give bonus screen time whenever you like, straight from the dashboard or the child's page, without waiting for your child to ask
- blocking on Android is faster and easier on the battery
### ๐ Bug Fixes
- overnight bedtimes set for certain days now cover the whole night, instead of blocking the morning and leaving the small hours free
- your child's daily screen time now counts every app they use, not only the ones already listed in your rules
- winding a computer's clock or timezone back no longer hands back screen time that was already used, and you get told when it happens
- changing the clock just after switching Wi-Fi on or off is now spotted as tampering
- a child's computer that restarts while you are offline now keeps enforcing your rules straight away, instead of allowing everything until you next connect
- you are now told when protection fails to start, gets stuck or stops watching on your child's computer, rather than the dashboard quietly showing everything as fine
- you are also told when the protection service on an Android device is switched on but not actually running
- a newly installed app is now held for your approval instead of being freely usable until you next connect
- apps whose name happens to contain "sms", "dialer" or "messaging", such as Signal, are no longer exempt from every rule
- a blocked child can no longer get back in by opening an invite meant for someone else
- extra time you approve now reaches your child even if their device was offline at the time
- pairing no longer sits on "Connecting to child..." forever, and an invite link opened twice no longer counts twice
- a second parent is no longer removed by mistake when two parents share a name
- apps your child uninstalls now disappear from your rules instead of lingering
- the block screen now updates when your rules change, so a locked device can no longer offer a way out of the lock
- activity is filed under the day it actually happened, even across midnight or a timezone difference
- names and messages with accents or emoji are no longer scrambled or silently dropped
- Linux apps no longer show up twice in your rules
- fixed a blank or frozen screen when opening the app, or returning to it after a while
- alerts and updates are no longer lost if the screen reloads behind the scenes
- the app no longer hangs waiting for a reply that never comes, and recovers on its own
- storage on a paired computer no longer grows without limit, and old bonus-time records are tidied away
### ๐ง Other
- Windows and Linux builds are now produced in one place, so both stay in step
