This study looked at AI driven strategies to enhance the application of lactic acid bacteria for the development of probiotics personalized for specific gut microbiome concerns. Lactic acid bacteria are already used for their probiotic properties and health-promoting effects, including modulation of gut microbiota, immune regulation, and metabolic support however the formulations are not personalized for each individual person. This study found AI enabled the accurate prediction of probiotic traits such as AMP production, SCFA synthesis, and host interaction potential. They also facilitated the discovery of functional metabolites and streamlined industrial processes like fermentation and formulation. These advances support a shift toward data-driven, precision approaches in probiotic development.
