This is interesting because generally a politician won’t unexpectedly go viral on centralized social media without right wing extremist billionaires paying bot farms to manipulate the algorithms, which looking at the bots’ comments on Instagram that’s what it looks like happened, at least on Instagram. It’s interesting to consider why right wing extremist billionaires might do this, it seems based on the bots’ comments this was done to try and increase polarization among Americans. That’s not to say Mamdani couldn’t have won the NYC mayoral primary without going viral on centralized social media, he may have won because of his in person campaigning. 🇺🇸 It’s also interesting to consider if the NYC mayoral election results in November will impact Democrats’ chances of winning the majority in the 2026 House and Senate elections. 🇺🇸 Generally Americans outside of New York aren’t that interested in the NYC mayoral election but looking at the bot farms commenting about this election on conservative sites & accounts, the bots are certainly trying to convince Republican voters across the country the NYC primary election is a sign that the Democrat Party is leaning into communism, which is wrong as this is only one local election.
