Make sure you help out your neighbors whenever you can, especially when they own a backhoe and you don’t image

One thing about living in the woods is that you don’t have any light pollution. This aurora is from last winter image

I just harvested my garlic the other day, 72 bulbs, which is enough for us. I’ll take 72 of the cloves off the bulbs and plant them in late October after the first frost for next year. I use a lot of it as my cold and flu remedy. Cut up into chunks along with ginger, cover with raw honey and shake it once in a while. If I get sick I’ll start eating the chunks of garlic and ginger. It’s my go to and it works. The honey will darken with time but it never goes bad just gets better. I also make elderberry syrup for the same reason.

Wow it’s like there are actually people here on this platform, this is great! lol. X is so full of bots, it feels like I’m talking to a wall over there. Lots of engagement here, I think I found my new happy place

We had a raccoon break into the coop the other night and killed 6 of our Rhode Island reds. Just chewed on their necks and drank blood, didn’t bother eating a one. And of course my big ass rooster came out unscathed, probably hiding in a nesting box lol. Luckily I found a local couple who had some young Plymouth Rocks and I was able to replace them pretty quick. You get used to fresh eggs and you don’t want to go back to store bought, that’s a fact

Gearing up for some canning next weekend, going to do some Klondike pickles and some picallily. Both of which are old recipes handed down and are delicious! image
