One little sucky thing about living off grid, and it doesn’t have to be this way, is that whatever temp it t is outside-it is inside and even hotter in the loft where we sleep. I only have enough solar for a night fan, well until I win the lottery that is. Happy summer!

Been working on a downstairs bedroom as it’s wayyy to hot in the loft in both the summer and the winter with the wood stove going. We are doing this addition like everything else we’ve done here as in when we have extra cash we buy materials and do a little bit. Nobody needs debt

It was this cold walking the dog this morning in Maine. We usually get at least a couple weeks of below zero at night up here. My coldest morning in the outhouse was -28F, I have been unable to beat that

Anyone else hike in the woods to harvest wild plants and mushrooms to make their own medicine for the year? We just finished up the Chaga and Reishi this morning. Mullein is absolutely amazing for breathing issues

Don’t forget to put your garlic in, now’s the time up here in Maine. Planted 75-80 cloves here. Garlic is a no brainer, so easy, just have to compost and mulch them in as the like rich soil

I guess it’s time to put the studded snows on the truck. Wood stove is going at least at night now and it feels like winter is not far away

I used to canoe down the river to harvest enough wild elderberries to get me through the winter but the wild ones I planted are now producing better that I thought. Now I can just worry about fishing when I’m going down the river
