I make the following statement as a former member of the church of emacs (now living in apostase): VS Code is a damn fine code editor.

I love my job, and I would never willingly harm any person who doesn't threaten me or my family physically, just to clarify... But, if today there is just ONE more person who tries to make his problem, which in its entirety only exists because my previous warnings were disregarded, into my problem and tries to blame a bad outcome on me there will be blood.

OK, Biden has Covid now... allegedly. But whatever if its true, it would be a nice, somewhat face-saving offramp for him. I mean, he has positioned himself in a situation where he cannot easily leave the race without shooting his party in the foot. So let's see if he takes the opportunity and if so, who will be nominated next...

Another day filled with appointments finished... and I am more and more convinced that they, the appointments, are pack animals. I mean - and I bet you, dear reader, will agree - that it is rare to encounter only one or two appointments in a week. Its well more likely to have either nought appointments or encounter a whole herd of those dastardly beasts. In my personal case, this week I encountered six of those critters of the private subspecies, mangled with a couple more of the work related kind. Curiously, last week there were nought, and as far as I can forsee next week too there will be no sightings... therefore, I propose to categorize, as mentioned before, appointmens as a herd species.

Well, "Feierabend", so let's review the day: -Saved my dumb ass after a rookie mistake by rolling back the last backup, astoundingly nobody noticed anything. -Finished a project while my toddler reenacted some Godzilla movie in my office... at least I think this was what he had in mind judged by the destruction he left in his trail -Sorted out a major "Old house problem"... much better for my peace of mind. All in all: I am exhausted, but happy.

With the Trump assassination attempt and everything around I was somewhat reminded of the whole "John Titor" (allegedly a time traveler) thing I witnessed back in the early 00s in some forum... back then everything about a second american civil war, a conflict with the Russians and so on seemed too over the top to be possible... well, now I am not so sure anymore.

) and while I at first thought nothing good about it I have now played a bit with it and I must honestly confess: I like it. So, WHY? Well, for people like me who are more or less glorified digital janitors who OCCASIONALLY code a bit and like to experiment with programming its a nice little new part in the toolbox to glue various Unix programs together and perform little automated tasks without delving too deep into BASHs ehm... 'peculiarities'. Yeah, its just another level of needless abstraction, I get it, but to be frank: Everything above straight up Assembly is. And while I adore minimalism, suckless and so on, sometimes I have to acknowledge that we are way past the 1970s and we aren't coding on teletypes connected to a PDP-11, aren't we?

Hah, just found out that I am an alt right nazi because accepting that persons have different opinions than mine and opposing to utterly destroy those persons life is equal to embracing those positions and become a Nazi... Well... what more to say?

What a day... after having a really nice ride to work the way home was... special. First I was pulled over by a young cop about a km after work, he complained the scooter was too loud. After arguing back and forth that a scooter that was build in 1986 in the GDR is simply that loud and that its perfectly legal he called soneone... lengthy... before finally letting me go, but not without telling me that in his opinion that "garbage" should not be allowed on the street. Well, after that encounter the scooter started to rebellion against me and stalled about 20 times on my way home... nice workout to kickstart 20 times in the humid heat.

Just had a lengthy chat with my barber, looks like we will have a lightning accepting barbershop soon here in the middle of nowhere...

Call it destiny, call it karma, call it randomness: The moment the old scooter is fixed and runs reliable the car starts to make problems...

This is gonna be a hot, hot day in Germany...
