Nachdem mein Job in den letzten Monaten ja eher aus Software Archäologie bestand bin ich jetzt mal wieder dabei was neues zu lernen: SvelteKit Ja, ich habe in der Vergangenheit schon Webapps verbrochen und JS ist für mich jetzt auch nichts so unbekanntes, aber Svelte ist für mich persönlich einfach ein neues Level... und verdammt viel Neuland wenn man sich sonst hauptsächlich mit antiken Shellskripten herunschlägt...

Back at the desk, i ask myself if its a sign of advancing in age if one cannot start fresh into the week after spending a weekend working on the house... but nah, perhaps its only a sign of too little caffeine Well, #gm world, the week has just started and there is much to do!

Heute Nachmittag reisse ich erstmal alles aus dem alten Bad heraus und schaue mal wie schlimm die Situation so ist... wenn ich nach den Pilzen gehe die hinter der Wannenverkleidung wachsen (*kotz*) erwarte ich das schlimmste...

Seeing the current developments in social media / communication platforms is fascinating - it's in some way a return to the ways digital networks worked before the rise of what we now call "the internet" in the 80s and early 90s. You had various more or less incompatible networks of BBS systems delivering personal messages, threads of discussions and other digital media. Here in Germany we (just as an example) had Fido-Net, Z-Netz, Mausnet, GeoNet and others. The interesting point is: Very few of those networks where controlled by one big entity, most where run by private operators or small companies. I think its interesting that we are now moving again in this direction with Nostr, the Fediverse and (somewhat ) Bluesky

Ich liebe ja Unix(-artige OS), aber nach einem Tag gebastel an Shell Scripts die geschrieben wurden als ich noch in der Grundschule war (wir haben hier teilweise prähistorische Technik im Einsatz) brauche ich jetzt erstmal ne Auszeit und einen Abend mit wenig Bildschirmzeit

Deutlich angenehmere Temperaturen heute morgen, trotzdem muss ich mein Hirn erstmal mit einem starken, heißen, schwarzen Kaffee auftauen... #gm Welt!

Whoa, das war mal eine kalte Nacht, Zeit den Ofen anzuwerfen, es hat halt nicht nur Vorteile in einem uralten Fachwerkhaus "ohne Infrastruktur" zu wohnen... aber ich würde es gegen nichts eintauschen wollen ;-) #gm Welt!

Heute habe ich nach langer, langer Zeit mal wieder angefangen zu tischlern, alles nur mit Werkzeug ohne Motor, Strom oder Elektronik. Ich hatte ganz vergessen wie entspannend es sein kann ein Stück Holz nur mit Muskelkraft in Form zu bringen... ich habe auch vergessen wie das ganze auf die Muckies geht :-D Aber da komme ich auch wieder rein, spart das Fitnessstudio

Monday, back at work on a dark, rainy but mild day in fall, the type of weather that gives the two towns where i live this special "somehow stuck in an 80s cyberpunk / blade runner vibe"... and i really like the mood of it. Now... its time for the first coffee while the workstation is starting up, then grind on a project that is due on Friday with a big conference happening on next tuesday. #gm world!

Waking up early on a cold calm sunday morning, while wife and son are still asleep i took a little walk outside and enjoyed the silence outside, watched a couple of deers farther away who were surprised to see someone out there that early... as I returned my family began to wake up. At the moment i am a very happy man. #gm everyone, enjoy the day!

This was the first really productive day after weeks... and I am feeling great being myself again. Just to recap: - Installed solar modules - Did maintenance on some overdue tasks regarding the house of my parents - Spend a LONG afternoon with my son outdoors A good Saturday

Like in real archeology, once in a while you find your "stone of rosette" in software archeology too, in my special case it was a CD, innocently named "Projektdaten 2001", quietly and forgotten sitting in a box of perhaps 50 similar CDs in the farthest corner of our archives... I have no idea why I tried this specific CD as first but it was a surpring hit: The complete source code and documentation for our ancient, mission critical but broken software.
