Ešte pred 115 rokmi v tomto mestečku žilo viac Slovákov než v tom čase v Bratislave alebo v Košiciach. Dnes ich zostala len hŕstka a mnohí z nich už neovládajú („vďaka“ všetkým slovenským vládam) svoj materinský jazyk. Po predkoch im zostala najmä slávna slovenská čabianska klobása. Na mape Maďarska sú vyznačené miesta slovenského osídlenia. Každé z nich má svoj osobitý ráz a svoju históriu, ktorá je spojená so slovenským jazykom a tradíciami tu žijúcich Slovákov. Územie od Bakoňských kopcov až po Níreďházu, od novohradských kopcov až po békešské sálaše, skrýva mnoho krás. Pri ich objavovaní vám prajeme veľa príjemných zážitkov.

Šok v Maďarsku Genetika dnes ukazuje niečo, čo mnohí nechcú počuť: dnešní Maďari sú geneticky takmer nerozoznateľní od Slovákov a ďalších národov strednej Európy. Keď starí Maďari prišli do Karpatskej kotliny, tvorili len menšiu skupinu. Postupne sa zmiešali s miestnym slovanským obyvateľstvom, ktoré tu žilo dávno pred nimi a tvorilo základ regiónu. To znamená jediné – dnešná populácia Maďarska stojí najmä na pôvodnom obyvateľstve tejto oblasti, nie na pôvodných dobyvateľoch. Rozdiel, ktorý dnes vidíme, je predovšetkým jazykový, nie genetický. Dejiny strednej Európy sú príbehom miešania národov – a realita je často iná, než jednoduché príbehy, ktoré sa tradujú.
