Hey #Nostr the #Nymchat app now shows a build integrity from the about modal. This is to verify the app being used was truly built using the files shown in its git repo. Additionally, there is a warrant canary, which is cryptographically signed using my Nostr key and adds a freshness anchor using the latest Bitcoin block height and hash at signing time. Because that hash could not have been known before the block existed, it proves the canary was signed after a specific point in time and was not pre-signed in bulk. Can't get any more cypherpunk than this.
You can now add avatar, banner, and description to group chats on Nymchat. You can also click the group name to open a new group context menu. Group chats metadata has also been hardened even further, with no direct leaks. Every message sent uses an ephemeral key, hiding its next key for all group members to use inside the encrypted rumor.
I've improved the P2P audio/video calls even further. Basically a Nostr-based Zoom now available for the end-to-end encrypted 1:1 PMs and group chats. View quoted note →
Is it just me or is YakiHonne almost unusable in browser? It lags so badly. Even the iOS app is similar. I even fully deleted the app and reinstalled and it is the same. Very glitchy and lots of freezing. It also seems to invoke the camera every time I open the app, it shows the green dot for camera access 🤔
