Hours after OpenAI released its first open-weight models in years with claims of safety measures, AI jailbreaker Pliny cracked them open.
#Plebs now supports client-side, automatic compression! This means, if your video file is over 100MB it will automatically recommend a quality preset and begin compressing the file down to below 100MB. There's support for up to a 5GB file (though only a 1GB file was heavily tested). This means, if you're just too lazy or don't have the technical means to try and compress a video yourself, you can let the Plebs app do it for you. However, it will take the length of the video in order to compress it. If it's a 10min video, it will take 10min to compress.

This was a 1GB file at 4000x2250 x2 at 60fps... I was able to compress it down to 88MB and still maintain a decent bitrate and resolution. It stays a fairly consistent frame rate except for one section where it drops pretty low. I'd say this is a pretty happy middle ground to handling large file sizes on Plebs in order to meet the 100MB upload limit for Blossom servers.
