The Bragg-Mitchell Mansion is a historic antebellum home located in Mobile, Alabama. Built: 1855 by Judge John Bragg Style: Greek Revival architecture — famous for its tall columns, grand portico, and sweeping verandas. Size: Around 13,000 square feet with 22 rooms. Grounds: Surrounded by majestic live oaks and manicured gardens. The mansion was a seasonal home for Judge Bragg’s family, used mainly during Mobile’s social season. During the Civil War, much of the interior furniture was moved inland for safekeeping — much of it was lost. Over the years, it passed through several owners, eventually being restored in the mid-20th century. It’s open to the public for tours, weddings, and special events. The mansion is one of Mobile’s most photographed landmarks and a centerpiece of the city’s historic charm.
