The power was out in the neighborhood today, and the kids and wife all took a nap at the same time. So, I decided to dig into some reading that isn’t about programming for the first time in a long while.

Applying to jobs today, and I came to a few conclusions:
1) I fucking hate Workday. Worst job application experience ever. They should just burn it down and start from scratch.
2) Forcing everyone to racially identify themselves on job applications hits differently now. We should probably just go to racially blind applications. 🤷♂️

Anyone have any thoughts on this philosophical question of whether or not Layer 2 is inherently limited by Layer 1? Genuinely interesting.

Sorry to post something from Xeet, but this kind of thinking is dangerous and leads straight to Totalitarianism. Why? Utopia and Totalitarianism are linked, because the only way to even get close to utopia is though complete control of society.

"The existence of elites doesn’t just happen; it is systematized, premeditated, refined to a practice assuring that those who are selected as “promising leadership material” will prove to have the right stuff, thus validating the methods of selection and, in the process, perpetuating the system that has made them possible. It is said that at night, when elitists look at themselves in a mirror, they mutter, “The system cannot be all bad . . .”"
