Mornin' Nostr... I have been sprouting seeds off and on for a few years. Thinking I might need one more bucket in this stack. Any thoughts on the size of the sprout? Should I be giving them one more day? I kind of think I should be. These sunflower seeds go to the turkeys currently being moved through the victory garden. There are weeds and some volunteers that they can get but until they get through the whole thing and get onto straight pasture I like giving them something extra. Thoughts? #sprouts #grownostr #homesteading #farmstr #garden #permaculture #permies

What started as part of an apology and to recognize all that my hardworking wife does for me and our children has turned into a little tradition. The night before a workday I make her a batch of overnight oats and prep the coffee so its ready when she leaves at 5:40am, usually before the rest of us are up. She only usually works 2 days a week so its not a big deal for me to do it. Fun JK Acres farm fact, the wife, or the boss as I like to call her, is a vegetarian. A lacto-ovo vegetarian to be exact. She eats dairy and eggs, just no meat. She just calls herself a vegetarian. Shes not too concerned about labels. She doesnt care what anyone else eats. She doesnt preach the gospel of plant based. She doesnt think everyone should give up meat. She encourages our boys to eat their meat on the dinner plate first...thats how you get your muscles she tells them. She even assists me in butchering chickens and turkeys every year. An amazing woman really. We are lucky to have her in our life. #happywifehappylife #grownostr #homesteading #marriage image

Trying to get better at this grazing thing. Saw a recent Greg Judy video where he explained that he was moving his herd faster in late summer to allow the grasses to grow back quicker for a winter stockpile. My flock is grazing through the second worst section of pasture here on the farm. Gave them about 3 days worth ( or at least three days worth in Spring ) and moved them in two days. Hoping that helps. Its not a huge difference but that extra day would have really taken the area on the right down too low for my taste. Rain is hard to come by this year. Keeping parasites in mind, I dont know if I have enough land to move them daily late summer just yet. New section of pasture we acquired is low, low, low quality...so hoping this helps. Butcher day is next week for some of these lambs...lots to consider when trying to keep ruminants on grass only. If you know you know! #permaculture #permies #homesteading #farmstr #grownostr image

Bought a solid 20 year old trailer with some minor issues ( busted lights, hard to turn jack, etc ) for the price you could almost get a new trailer for seven years ago. Glad we found it but damn its hard to stomach prices on some things. #grownostr #inflation #farmstr #permies #homesteading image
