Vacations are bittersweet. I spend the first three days stressing about the weather at home and how everything on the farm is fairing without the regular "farmer". Second year of sunchokes in this bed. Never harvested in year one, just pla ted the tubers here because I needed a spot. Now they are out of control. Big harvest this fall...but how to cook? Last time I grew and ate sunchokes they lived up to their nickname of "fartichokes". They were pan fried and delicious but I paid the price. Anyone have any experience dealing with the inulin? Tonight the evening workout is stacking bales. I dont "need" much hay, and I am working to not need it at all. However, a few bales for when I am off the property for a few days to a week and a few more for the end of winter are still needed. Until I can stockpile more than enough grass for the winter, buying in 40 to 50 small bales is a cheap insurance policy. #homesteading #farm #grownostr #permaculture #regenag
