Freedom is a practice. So practice.
First draft of my "Laptop" piece is complete. Should drop next week.
It documents my journey over the last few years. Complete with apps, services, and hardware I've worked with, and recommend. Relevant to beginners and advanced, alike.
I don’t know if you’ve watched videos of how urban life looked like at the turn of last century (link at the end). I love watching those videos because they are full of beauty, innocence, self-respect, and healthy, effortless smiles.
Imagine if we could watch how life was several centuries back. I bet things were even better back then, despite what mainstream tells us: oh, how poor and short-lived those primitive and uneducated humans were. Oh, how unequal, oppressive, and undemocratic their societies were. And yet, those glimpses of the past suggest otherwise.
Besides, it’s not like we need video documentaries. Most of us have met our grandparents (and other old people) so we can compare their generation with ours.
What changed?
The hierarchy of our society used to be different. At the bottom were peasants. A few layers above were some aristocrats, and at the very top was God. Indeed, our ancestors deferred to Him as the ultimate authority.
What about today’s hierarchical pyramid?
Well, at the very bottom you have today’s peasants – all those educated and diligent workers who pay their taxes, vote, and watch Netflix. Above them you have bureaucrats, politicians, and financiers. Further up, you have think-tanks, the UN, BIS, WEF, NATO, and their friends.
And then what? Who or what sits at the very top?
Modern society no longer defers to God as the ultimate authority. As Dostoevski wrote, in the absence of God, there is chaos. The reason why modern societies look so ugly and hellish is because they have rebelled against God.
But you and I have a choice.
If we don’t want to follow the hordes of Lemmings falling off the cliff, we can opt out. We can hold on to our own Faith, chart our own path, and determine our own destiny. But make no mistake, it all starts with God.
Here is one video from the turn of last century:
Virtue signaling betrays compromised incentives and misguided ethics. Public displays of "generosity" and "virtue" are a strong counter-indicator.
Started working on a massive piece on laptops.
What laptop, what software, what cloud services (hint: none), and much much more. It's the result of 3 years of work.
Should drop in 2 weeks.
The ink of my recent article about living without a smartphone had barely dried, when I discovered something new.
Smartphones, it seems, are the gift that keeps on giving.
Expect a follow up in the next few days.
It's finally out:

The Apple #VisionPro is not an accessory. It’s a full-blown replacement for iPhones, iPads, MacBooks, Watches and AirPods.
Vision Pro is the be-all-end-all of consumer technology.
Speaking of which, let me ask you this:
What has consumer technology done for us that is so great? Have their products made us healthier, happier, or wealthier than our grand-parents?

The Vision Pro announcement carries a lot of predictive power.
How will the world look like when Vision Pro replaces iPhones and MacBooks within 5 years?
What can we do to avoid that dystopian world?
Big piece dropping in the next few days. Subscribe to get it.
What do alien invasions, climate changes, and global health emergencies share in common?
Apple already has best-selling AR hardware. It's included in all their recent iPhones and iPads.
What do you think those LIDARs were for? I mean, come on, they even have a dedicated AR page on their website.

Augmented Reality
Augmented reality on iOS and iPadOS transforms how you work, learn, play, and connect with the world around you. And this is just the beginning.
Hollywood has a pet peeve; a thorn on their side; something that’s been bothering them for decades.

Wealth is measure by our capacity to meet our own needs.
If a transaction robs you of that ability, you need to add the cost of that loss to the seemingly low monetary cost.
Example:
Food delivery is deceptively cheap. Of course, it carries a health cost but it also exacts a penalty on our ability to feed ourselves.
Because the habit of relying on others to conveniently spoon feed us is akin to muscle atrophy.
AI is *not* a decentralizing force.
AI guts the middle class -- employers and workers alike.
The only cohort that benefits is a handful of AI companies at the very top.
AI benefits the 1%, at the expense of everyone else. Again.
Nobody can stop AI now. Except farmers.

Once a country is fully developed, information workers are not needed anymore. You can then deploy ChatGPT and have the newly-anointed “useless class” beg for UBI and CBDC.
