I made some supposedly low carb bread and it actually tastes pretty darned good! I had to make a concious effort to stop eating it after 4 slices.
Time will tell how low carb it really is. I can measure these things, albeit inderectly.

It's Saturday. I slept in. Now I'm sipping my coffee, relaxin' before I get into my day.
Continuing to build a shed, laundry, starting a new batch of cold brew... nothing revolutionary, nothing incredible. Just another weekend at home, taking care of business.
This is the 16mm projector from 1969 that we fixed tonight at the new Repair Cafe.
We also probably fixed a lawn edger (didn't have a battery to try it out), failed to fix a 19" home stereo cassette player (was not going to be able to be diagnosed in a reasonable amount of time), were not able to fix a screwdriver (not designed to be repairable), and didn't get to the 3.5mm headphone jack that someone wanted to put onto... something.
Amazing response from the community and everyone had a really positive attitude, even if their object couldn't be repaired.
Seriously, without people bringing in things in need of repair, this would just be a huge waste of time. In case any of you are on #nostr, thank you for making this a success.

Do you have any tips to share?
I'm going to be involved in one of these in my town and want to learn from those who came before me.
I love helping people save money, getting them to switch to open source software, and make the most of what they already have. This is like a perfect storm for me. π

I appreciate the feedback from everyone who responded about a biz being a sysadmin for people's personal instances of $whatever open source software.
I got a lot of pointers to projecrs, some of which are similar and some which have different perspectives.
I also heard the idea that if someone is getting into self-hosting, they probably won't want someone else to host nor even administer their servers. I feel like that can help with marketing. For the people who really want to do everything themselves, they can use the playbooks my buddy will publish. Happy to join forces with them and accept quality contributions too. If they ever get tired of being a part time sysadmin, they'll know who to turn it over to.
It remains to be seen if I can convince him to give self-employment a try, and if he does, whether he is a good enough salesman to get any clients. He's pretty risk averse and has a stable job, but maybe the freedom will be enough to entice him.
Based on the numbers on 8marketcap, if #bitcoin doubled in price, it'd be more valuable than any single company (assuming they don't go up by *too* much) and still less than ΒΌ the market cap of gold.

π€ Going out of band is cringe. Manually copying and pasting is cumbersome. Using additional software has a lot of friction.
What to do...
I think you need a picture of some clouds in your timeline. Here's one I took the other day.

License: CC0I know someone thinking about running open source services for people as a business.
Do you know anyone who would be willing to pay to have someone set up & manage a Nextcloud server, Jitsi, Matrix, ActivityPub, GitLab, Jellyfin, OpenVPN, BTC/LND, or any other service?
Or have "free" services like GSuite, Zoom, and the rest made this business model impossible.
Would love to hear people's thoughts on this. It seems like something the world needs, but not sure if the economics work in these times.
