He had a large following that was one sided , but he was not an elected official so I wouldn’t call it a national tragedy. What I didn’t agree with was his views on DEI and how he made it a black issue. As a leader or someone who has a following, you have a responsibility to educate based on your views, but also understand your views will also inspire others to action. In that way he was not MLK. He spoke out against blacks and the LGBTQ movement which caused division amongst the community. There’s been 2 hangings in Mississippi since his death and this is 2025. He had these views and aligned himself with a president who hates democrats. I support our president even if I don’t support his views, but when so called leaders divide more than unite, there will be mixed feelings about the life they lived.
