We’ve watched social media take a society already obsessed with celebrity and fame, and put it on a massive growth hormone. Is it any wonder why almost everything bad, from phone spam, to political corruption, to serial school shooters, has accelerated many fold in a few short years? I don’t know what resets civilization, but I sure don’t see Instagram users caring much.

I see a future, not many days from now, when our social media streams will be mostly AI bots arguing politics with other AI bots. It’s remarkable how, despite the 15 years of hype, social media has accomplished so little for humanity or its politics.

I never use Instagram. Are they aggressively pushing IG users to opt-into the Fediverse? If not, things may change when they eventually do. This chart shows that even with large Twitter accounts coming over to Threads since last December, its growth came to a dead stop. When you set the hype aside, there is another emerging story to be told here. I’m just not sure what it is yet.

I have an update about my Morton’s Neuroma. I’ve been doing that hot/cold shock-bath therapy and it started working almost immediately. After a week, the pain still shows up, but intensity and frequency are both greatly reduced. I am optimistic for the first time since this toe fusion process began.
