I wonder how narratives might change if more health care, energy, and finance CEOs became targets of routine assassination? Are we going the way of Russia, Brazil, Columbia, Mexico, and the Philippines. Probably. Nice work, MAGA!

@joeTrippi has started a new social network with precisely the model I’ve been advocating. That we get away from this idea of single monolithic network and start creating smaller ones that have greater trust and reputational integrity.

Wow. Amazon must now be teleporting its deliveries and hasn’t told anyone. My package traveled over 1000 miles in one minute. Now that’s express shipping!

Having a power outage here in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I can't even check the power tracker at fpl.com. If you can, please check zip 33312 and report back if they have any intel. It would suck if the power company had no backup, but, Florida.
Even if Harris wins in a landslide, it’s not going to do much to reduce the rising tide of Dunning-Kruger specimens now polluting the American gene pool. These MAGA cultists are everywhere, and they’ve been programmed by conservative oligarchs to seek political success at the local level. Win or lose in November, we need to stay very afraid.
Actblue raised $30 million in 5 hours.
Ten days of that and the “big donors” can fuck all the way off.
Not even 4 months to the election. And I scarcely have time for survival and firearms training. The patriot in me is prepared to fight. The Jew in me wants to stuff a suitcase with cash and flee the country.
Anyone who claims the press has been in the pockets of the Democrats since 1980, is either a MAGA twat or an active measures bot.
Here come the Russians, via NOSTR!

The post interview press was just as brutal as I expected. I just do not understand how anyone could have imagined a different outcome. The press thrives on ratfucking Democrats. This was just giving them a second bite of the apple.
Yes, Murdoch destroyed politics and lives on 3 continents. And yes, venal conservatives have embraced media and politics that have poisoned minds. But millions of those minds were so weak, it was easy for the toxins to work. America is a failed society, if not yet a failed state.
It’s hard to believe any SCOTUS decision could be worse than Dobbs, but I absolutely guarantee we will rue this day when people understand just how impossible it will soon be to regulate ANYTHING again. And the coming lawsuits will so inundate the courts, they won’t be able to do anything else for decades.
Quite correct. But slacktivism started even before Twitter, with petitions, and such. They made people feel engaged, when in fact, they were encouraging themselves and friends to be more passive than their parents had been, while thinking they were the opposite.

@benroyce @tracingcovid@mstdn.social @John@socks.masto.host @shoq that’s right.
For awhile when I was on the angry bird I felt like was engaged ...

The best act of trolling, ever, was in 1973, when Marty Cooper, inventor of the cell phone, made his first call from the street, placed to his rival at AT&T, which was working on their own phone tech.

It should be clear that Open Social isn’t going to happen quickly, if at all. I continue to believe that its future is tied to institutional, educational, and political users. Journalists are not the culture. In many ways, too many have become the enemy of culture. Twitter made them all into careerists first, journalists and citizens second. We need a well defined path forward, stat.
I fully expected the Twitter migration to fizzle out. The narratives were all defined by a tech press looking for “the next Twitter.” All that did was raise consumer expectations that open social wasn’t ready to meet. Now the one thing that might save journalism is being recast as a “hobbyist” project again.
The good news is, everyone has failed to create safe spaces for journalism and news. So it’s still possible to invent some.
Someway, somehow, as a collective, we must figure out how to explain to MAGAs that being able to shout “everything sucks!” does not qualify someone to run a government bureaucracy. It doesn’t build any roads, schools, bridges, or hospitals. At some point, someone has to actually do something.
I don’t think Donald Trump has been off @npub18d86...hg86’s screen or Chyron more than twice in 8 months. This must be the first time in history that emergent fascism has been continuously monetized by the press.

We’ve watched social media take a society already obsessed with celebrity and fame, and put it on a massive growth hormone. Is it any wonder why almost everything bad, from phone spam, to political corruption, to serial school shooters, has accelerated many fold in a few short years?
I don’t know what resets civilization, but I sure don’t see Instagram users caring much.
