Progress on Nos this week: - Brought over our two-column Discover view from Planetary - Added a thread view where you can view replies to a message, and post a new reply - Cleaned up some of our communication with relays - A bunch of other minor fixes and improvements. We're t-minus to weeks to #nostrica. Shooting to be in TestFlight review at the end of next week so we can make sure we have something for people to check out at the conference.

If Nostr is just a place to publish things that nobody can take down then it's not special or interesting. The freedom on Nostr isn't refreshing because their are no rules. It's because there can be many sets of rules and you can choose the ones you play in. The power of Nostr isn't in the Twitter-style microblogging we are doing right now, it's in all the digital places we can build when exchanging data with our friends is quick and easy.

Having user metadata automatically load in Gossip makes it way more usable for me! My new most-hoped for features are block and report. Seeing notes from people I've already blocked in Iris and Damus sucks.

In a strange turn of events, Apple has added the Hashcash proof-of-work algorithm to their App Store Connect API without telling anyone, and it's broken all iOS developer's CI.

#[0] just tried unfollowing some people in gossip and then pushing contact list out to relays. The push failed silently because I hadn't unlocked my key yet. It would be nice to get an error message in this case. Would you like me to file a ticket?

I'm trying out https://coracle.social today. Still need to try Current. The ability to try lots of Nostr clients simultaneously is so freeing. I'm used to the scuttlebutt ecosystem where you can't use the same key across multiple apps. You end up generating a bunch of different keys and then you have to set your bio and manage follows on all separately. I can open a new browser tab and be trying a Nostr webapp safely in under 60 seconds. With Alby I don't even have to trust them with my private key. It's amazing.
