Late-night thought: Almost every major decision I’ve made—whether it be marriage, career, investments—was against the advice of those closest to me. By the grace of God, they all turned out to be the right thing for me.
And yet, I can’t say I’d recommend this strategy to anyone else. I’ve seen this exact setup go the other way.

When the west lost religion, all it had left were remnants of virtues, aimlessly competing against each other:
courage
strength
wisdom
diversity
inclusion
ambition
safety
intelligence
Any virtue, if sought out as the ultimate good, becomes a false god. We worship them at our peril.
These gods come and go - in 2020 safety and control were our gods. Which one is next?

CS Lewis

It’s amazing to see millennial parents struggle loading and unloading children in parking lots, jamming their strollers in the tiny SUV trunk, because they think minivans are uncool.
Just admit it’s an appliance designed to get you from A to B, not a sports car. No one thinks your crossover is cool.
If you try to split the difference between practical and stylish you get neither.

Demons are real.
