cashu-ts 4.13.0 is out 🥜 Cashu-TS, the Typescript library that powers many Cashu Wallets and services, just got better NUT-18 payment request support. - Pay a request in one call. wallet.ops.sendToRequest(request) applies every payer rule for you: unit, mint list, accepted methods, per-method fees, input fees and the lock. You can't underpay by accident. - Check a payment in one call. wallet.isPaymentRequestSatisfied(...) tells a payee whether the proofs they received really cover the request. It checks the net amount after fees, mint, unit, duplicates and the spending conditions. - Request features that match v5: preferred mints (mp), supported methods with per-method fees (sm), and wire-safe encodePayload / decodePayload helpers. It's a drop-in upgrade for v4 users. There's a new usage guide in payment_requests.md.

The Nutroot spec for Cashu is now in review, and we're all pretty excited about it. It's going to be a huge leap forward for Cashu. So I asked Claude make a video to help explain the core concepts to the rest of the Cashu developer team, and make it easier for them to review. It's fairly technical, but hopefully may be interesting to others too.

The last few months, I've been head down working on "Nutroot", which is the evolution of Cashu P2PK, built on top of the BLS based "keyset v3". It's getting the final polishing touches now, and I'm thrilled that @calle will be talking about it and some of the exciting possibilities it unlocks at @btcplusplus on Thursday Oct 1 at 12:00 PM (10AM UTC I believe). Sadly I won't be there in person, but I will be watching the livestream.

v4.11.0 of Cashu-TS. the library behind many Cashu wallets, is now available. This release has numerous fixes, including websocket close callback, default request timeout and better NUT-19 retry handling. This stable release v4 is recommended for all production wallets. We also have v5.0.0-RC.11 release candidate which implements the experimental "Nutroot" and "keyset v3" (BLS). Testing is welcomed, but be aware that spec changes may be breaking between RC versions.

🛠️ 🚨 Cashu Typescript builders update! We are getting really close to v5.0.0 now... release candidate 3 is now published, now really only waiting for the Keyset v3 NUT to be signed off. Stable version v4.7.0 and LTS version 3.7.1 also released. These fix a critical slot counting bug in Pay to Blinded Key (P2BK) for HTLCs. v4.7.0 also gets the newly merged NUT20/29 signing spec, and a backport of the new v5 batch minting checker. If you are still building on v3 or below, please upgrade to v4 ASAP, as v3 will be dropped from LTS when v5 ships. 👉

The amazingly talented @Luke Childs ☂️ came up with a cool concept called Nimdolf: Non-interactive Mint Delegation on Liveness Failure This is a major step towards removing the custodial risk of Cashu. It provides a "Dead Mint Switch" in case an mint goes offline for an extended period of time. Could use a better acronym though... haha. I was thinking maybe, RESCUE: Reserve Escrow Scripted Custodial User Exit LMK if you think of a better one!

Cashu-TS v4.3.0 just released! This release tightens spec compliance and hardens wallets against real-world mint quirks: BOLT12 quotes, NUT-12 DLEQ verification, and nullable wire fields now behave correctly across mint implementations. Slow Lightning payments can now be fire-and-forget: wallets can save the in-flight payment, restart or hand off to another process, and still reclaim their change once the payment settles thanks to new OutputData serializers and wallet.createMeltChangeProofs method. New developer ergonomics include a CTSError base class for cleaner error handling and a maxSpendableAfterFees primitive that makes "send max" flows trivial to build.
