The struggle of my life the past month!
#Bitcoin

This is VERY true! I’ve wasted over an hour this AM watching price moving.
Complete waste of time…sure…but fun as hell!
Few things are as fun as a good Bitcoin price rip! LOL
Oh well, back to work…cause this grind don’t stop!

Also, I just got up and running on Primal and it is insane how good it is compared to other clients I've been using.
NOSTR is going to win. I already like using it more than other social media. The only thing missing is the large user base. That will come.
I appreciate all the builders working on/in NOSTR!
WAGMI!
It happened today...
Got a text from two friends about Bitcoin (both who I'd discussed investing with in the past). So 'they' are STARTING to wake up.
Also Coinbase crashed today.
Starting to feel like a Bitcoin rally is happening! LOL
I wonder how long until normies start to wake up?!?
RV Travel Costs (Part 1) - RV Travel Versus Traditional Travel
4 years ago, we wrestled with the decision of whether to buy an RV or not. I’m a nerd. I did a bunch of math to figure out if it would be worth it. We ultimately decided to buy the RV and hit the road. We took the plunge. We’ve traveled for 4 years and have spent that time visiting all of the Tennessee State Parks.
I recently had to take a trip for work to Fort Worth, TX. We traveled “traditionally” on this trip (air, hotel, rental car). This is the perfect time to determine if RV travel has been Fort “Worth” It!?!? Get it…worth it…Fort Worth…do you see what I did there? Ha!
Was buying an RV worth it? Or could we have just traveled ‘normally’ for cheaper? If it was more expensive was the added expense worth it?
Caution. The nerd level is gonna be high with this one! I work in spreadsheets the way Picasso worked with oils.
Contender #1 – “Traditional Travel”
Air Travel / Rental Cars / Lodging / Food
Contender #2 – “RV Travel”
Campground / Rig (Truck) / Rig (Trailer) / Other Rig Options
Which Contender Wins? Traditional Travel or RV Travel?
Pumpkin Patch and Trick Or Treating
I really do take Emily to all the best places!
Seven Islands State Birding Park (Kodak, TN)
The early bird gets the bird?!? We didn't get to the birding park early enough to do any birding (but late breakfast was really good). Regardless, it was still a beautiful fall afternoon to explore around this state park. Emily didn't like my regenerative agriculture 'knowledge session' but she did like Buc-ees (meh)!
Panther Creek State Park (Morristown TN)
We stayed at Panther Creek State Park on our last trip of the 2023 RV season. The lake was pretty against the fall leaves. It was a nice park for a short hike and a visit with Max and Arden. It also allowed Emily to continue her late 2023 rant against the evil TVA dam system.
Renting versus Owning (And Traveling With) Your Own Kayaks
Most places we go we could probably rent kayaks (and we have) but sometimes it works best to travel with your own. #kayak #kayaking
"Tourist-ing" Knoxville (Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary, Museum of Appalachia, & AMSE)
While we were in the Knoxville, TN area for fall break we visited some of the popular touristy spots. If I had to force rank them I'd say 1) Historic Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary, 2) Museum of Appalachia, then 3) American Museum of Science and Energy (AMSE). I'm a sucker for history and all three of these places do a good job of taking you back in time to see some real history.
Hummingbird Stuck In Building (DeanoFarms: Week 67)
I saw him fly in and then he wouldn't fly out (and I tried to help him). Finally, after several hours he made his way out safely. YAY!
#hummingbird #deanofarms
Thistle Wars Update (DeanoFarms: Week 67)
Deano's sick idea of a good day?!? Battling thistles in the TN heat! Ha! We let our fields grow all year (no mowing this year). I walked the property a few times and cut the thistles. Once cut, I spot-apply 10 parts diesel + 1 part herbicide with a paintbrush. I don't really want ANY chemicals on the property. I don't want thistles on the property more, however. I wound up painting about a gallon over the year (on the 11 acres). This is not the end of the world I guess. Plus, it is relaxing work! #Deanofarms
Our Kayak Setup - Our Travel Setup
This is how we carry our kayaks with us when we go. It has worked pretty well (minus a few Dumb Deano user errors along the way).

$GBTC
...aaaannnndddd it's GONE!
A short chronicle of my biggest move in 2023.
Back in 12/22 (right after the FTX/SBF blow-up) $GBTC (and Bitcoin) were getting smoked.
All the crypto bros had GBTC as collateral on their insolvent businesses...and DCG was highly suspect as corrupt (probably not wrong).
The discount to NAV was absurd.
Blood in the streets!
The 2% management fee was even higher due to the discount and it was trading OTC.
If the discount closed back to a normal closed-end fund (13%ish), it would be good.
If #Bitcoin rallied, it would be good.
Both happened during 2023.
The ETF approval probably drove both. Fine!
Grayscale sued the SEC and set in motion the ETF approval (which would eliminate the discount entirely) because they would 'up list' to a normal ETF.
In the first two weeks of trading the discount went to basically nothing (.1%-ish).
All while Bitcoin had a great 2023 (150%+).
Everything worked out perfectly. This never happens for me! LOL
GBTC earned a nice management fee for their 'work' in 2023. I fired them yesterday for cheaper alternatives (and better diversification).
Now back to HODL'ing.
When the tide goes out you find out who was swimming naked.
I look forward to more shenanigans from the crypto bros in the future. They'll never learn. Greed is a powerful drug.
Funny that I was able to use wisdom of Uncle Warren to get more cheap Bitcoin (rat poison squared).

Which #Bitcoin spot ETF is the best?
I'm going to fire $GBTC today
I appreciate:
1) all the crypto bros who panicked back in 2023 and let me buy at an almost 50% discount.
2) @Grayscale for suing and winning against the corrupt @SECGov
I don't appreciate:
3) the egregious management fee! 1.5%?!?! WTF?!?
Size Matters edition!
Blackrock $IBIT and Fidelity $FBTC are the biggest of the new ones. Followed closely by Ark/21 $ARKB and Bitwise $BITB
$GBTC is the largest but shrinking quickly (see above)
The rest of the new ones are much smaller.
Fees Matters edition!
Bitwise $BITB has the lowest of the new ones. Followed closely by Ark/21 $ARKB and VanEck $HODL
Some have temporary waivers on fees (that differ from this list) which make this analysis a bit more complicated.
Giving Back edition!
Bitwise $BITB and VanEck $HODL have both stated they will donate a percentage of profits for the first 10 years to Bitcoin open-source development (via third parties).
$BITB has gathered decent AUM already.
Custodian Diversity edition!
Fidelity $FBTC does their own self custody 💪👍
VanEck $HODL uses @Gemini
If diversifying your custodian is important these are good options.
The majority of the new spot ETFs use @coinbase
Deano's Picks!
I'm selling all of my $GBTC They used to be the only game in town but better options now exist.
I'm going to split between (force ranked):
Bitwise $BITB
Fidelity $FBTC
Ark/21 $ARKB
VanEck $HODL
Paddle Boating Indian Mountain State Park (Jellico, TN)
We finished up our fall break at Indian Mountain State Park (in Jellico, TN). We covered a lot of ground on our trip so we relaxed around this state park to end the trip. We did a quick hike, a paddle boat race with Max and Arden, a delicious dinner (pies/cakes), and then back around the campfire to fight off the cold while watching Max and Arden's UT Vols play (boo RTR!).
Kayaking and Biking At Cove Lake State Park (Caryville, TN)
We explored Cove Lake State Park on bikes and in kayaks. Both were fun. They have a paved bike path that makes for enjoyable pedaling. We'd have kayaked much longer if the weather had been a little better. It was a great lake for kayaking (a big lake and no big boats).
Exploring Norris Dam State Park (Rocky Top, TN)
We used Norris Dam State Park as our home base to explore the surrounding area. They have two campgrounds (east side vs. west side) and I chose the bad one when I booked it [sad face emoji]. Regardless, we explored the park and got some hiking in. We also got to relax with Preston (and a skunk) around the campfire. NOTE: We were near Rocky Top, TN, and visited Max at UTK. I've had enough Vols/Orange for now...ROLL TIDE ROLL!
The universe is in charge of this Bitcoin transition!

As I think about the impact of the coming #BitcoinETFs here are some numbers.
1) #Gold ETF penetration
2) #Bitcoin EXISTING supply (#HODL and On Exchange Balances)
3) #Bitcoin NEW supply (which halves in April '24)
Interesting to contemplate what may happen if/when approved.
The last time an existing 'asset class' became ETF eligible (November 2004) the price of #Gold AND assets under management within those ETFs both went up...A LOT.
Could #Bitcoin experience something similar as an entirely new investor class can now allocate to it easily?
