Standing Stone State Park (Where's The Stone!?!) Our second TN state park where we couldn't find the thing the park is named for!?! We eventually found the "standing stone"...IN ANOTHER TOWN?!? Tennessee summer heat was on full display while we were at Standing Stone which curtailed some of our plans. We visited another state park up the road (as planned) and took a more relaxed approach (i.e. got lazy) at our home base for the weekend. Sometimes lazy is good enough!

10-year treasury rate up over 4.5%. Boomer: “I’m not gonna own stocks when I can get a 5% yield in bonds!” Also Boomer: I just lost 6% THIS MONTH owning bonds! Boomers are getting REKT! $TLT total drawdown since peak -47%! US Treasuries are the ultimate Shitcoin! PS - Inflation is 3.6% (and now trending up again)! This Year $TLT down 14% $TLT yield 3% Inflation up 4% Congrats you are down about 15% this year in bonds. Imagine owning Bonds (Certificates of Confiscation)!?!? I guess they aren't as "safe" as many believe.

Letting The Pastures Grow & Thistle Wars (DeanoFarms: Week 55) We spent a decent amount of time and energy last year mowing the pastures (three times I think). I decided to take a different approach this year. The goal was 1) less work/time devoted to maintenance, 2) let some soil 'build' and 3) give natural habitat a chance to give some nature a home. I'm keeping the perimeter neat and tidy and leaving the rest to Mother Nature. Part of this experiment required going Deano to go hand-to-weed combat on some thistles! The Thistle Wars have begun! I've pricked my hand a few times but I have them on the ropes! #DeanoFarms

Big Banks: Going insolvent due to spike in yields making their bond portfolios get REKT! Fed response: Create the BTFP program to prop up their balance sheet and allow them to survive unscathed. Boomers: Bond portfolios getting REKT due to spike in yields from Fed action! Fed response: …….. Certificates of Confiscation! View quoted note →

Gran's Family Trip @ Big East Fork Retreat (Williamson County, TN) Gran got the whole family together for a staycation right down the road at Big East Fork Retreat (in Williamson County, TN). The house we stayed in was on a small-scale farm. We enjoyed the outdoors, games, the animals, good food, and nightly campfires. At some point, however, a 1,500-piece puzzle appeared and sent me down a puzzle wormhole that lasted about 24 hours (Captain Ahab / Moby Dick vibes). It sucked in all 12 members of the family that were present in order to finally complete it (especially the Type A's like me).

Some fun with long term charts! “Deano you’re insane for owning your fake internet magic money! No one even wants that!” — Someone (usually a Boomer) who owns “safe” bonds Bond drawdown (so far) TLT 45% BND’s 20% But hey you’re earning 4-5%+?!? This doesn’t seem all that safe to me?!? I own Bitcoin which has had a drawdown, no question. But Bitcoin is a sub trillion dollar asset class not a 45-135 trillion dollar asset class. As a Bitcoin holder I fully expect wild swings in price. It is part of the deal with a burgeoning asset class. I don’t think bond holders should have expected the whipsaw they’ve been handed. By the way inflation has been rocking and rolling while you’ve been getting wrecked. It is eating that 5% yield for dinner! I bet you are feeling poorer, right? All the fiat hucksters keep touting how inflation is coming back down. Don’t look now, however, oil is “barreling” higher. See what I did there?!? LOL Bonds are Certifications Of Confiscation! They can print the currency into oblivion and you can’t do a damn thing about it. They are doing this as we speak. Have fun being “safe” Boomers!

Kayaking and Hiking at Big Hill Pond State Park - Pocahontas, TN We commuted into the far reaches of TN for a day of kayaking, hiking, and exploring a very nice Tennessee State Park. We barely saw anyone the entire day as we kayaked on the huge lake, explored the swampy Big Hill Pond, hiked a half-mile boardwalk into a swamp, and then up a tower overlooking the entire area. There was a lot to see before heading back to civilization.

Big #Bitcoin Events I’m Watching - Binance Is Basically FTX Redux IMHO - Global Hashrate (Continues To Move Higher) - Bitcoin On Exchanges (Continues To Move Lower) - 240-Day Deadline On Spot ETF Applications (3/24) - Halving (Will Make Stock to Flow Higher Than Gold) (8/24) - Ultimately Bitcoin Doesn’t Care About Anything…Tick Tock, Next Block!

Oil breaking to new YTD high… That’s been the only part of the inflation numbers (fake ass bullshit government reported inflation numbers) that have been down recently. What happens when it starts going up again while everything else is also going up?!? Hmmm?!? IMHO higher inflation is here to stay as no amount of money printing replaces real life tangible things…like say oil! I sure wouldn’t want to own a bond backed by money that can be printed from thin air in this environment. The only one winning that game is the one printing from thin air! image

Shiloh National Military Park - Shiloh, TN and Corinth, MS We toured Shiloh National Military Park in Shiloh, TN. I'm a decently technical guy but the combination of a Federal government-produced (?!?) map/audio tour app and limited cell phone data access had us scrambling the entire 13-mile/22-stop tour (err 23 if you made the map not match the app...which they did do). Regardless, we learned a lot and had fun before heading south to Corinth, MS. There we visited the Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center and the railroad crossroads that all the fighting in the area was all about.

Exploring Around Pickwick Landing State Park - Counce, TN We stayed at Pickwick Landing State Park (in Counce, TN) as our home base while visiting a few places nearby. We are not really set up as lake people in our travel rig. This is a lake town. Regardless, the massive dam did create the opportunity for a slew of dam jokes. The nice resort at the state park enabled us to have a fancier-than-normal dinner. Good dam time!

My truck is getting some miles on it and I wondered what a replacement might run me. Jaw dropped BTW! This is a real-life example of Inflation and why CPI is an absolute lie (hedonic adjustments my hind end)! I bought my 2019 truck for $34k that same truck today will cost me $50k (+$16k or +47%). But Deano, "they" told me inflation is 4% this year and getting better?!? These people and their math aren't even close to what I come up with here in the real world. I hope: 1) you don't need to replace your vehicle (most people's second-largest purchase), or 2) you are making 47% more than you were at your job a few years ago, or 3) your net worth went up 47% over the past few years. If so, you'll be fine! PS - Now do house prices (most people's largest purchase)! PPS - Inflation compounds! PPPS - I'm sure it is just cars "they" are lying to you about...not houses...not food...not energy....not healthcare....not education...etc...etc... Your wealth and life force are being stolen from you every single day. Are you paying attention?

Hiking and Kayaking Around Mousetail Landing State Park (Linden, TN) School's Out Blitz! When Emily's school let out we hit the road. The first stop was Mousetail Landing State Park (near almost nothing but maybe Linden, TN). We are hikers and the hiking in this part of the state is not the best but we were surprised with Mousetail. The trails were better than expected, the campground was one of the nicest we've been in, we hit the water in our kayaks, and the food we had in nearby Parsons, TN was great. Mousetail Landing FTW!
