Next on the list of companies pushing me into the surveillance dystopia is my gym. Today they told me that they will be moving away from the keytag barcode we use to get in and they will be requiring all members to take a photo of their face to identify themselves linked to the gyms app that we will have to have on our phones to get in to the gym. The barcode has been working for years. Why do they now need my biometrics? Why do I suddenly need an app?
