Yesterday’s dinner: Creamy chicken soup and charcuterie, including homemade sourdough My favorite pairings: very hot sourdough with Mitica espalette pepper Wooly Wooly, Underground Meats Gin Rummy salami with Somerdale mango Ginger Stilton, and Underground Meats black garlic salami with Kasaagio Robusto aged Gouda. Crocheted a sunflower and daisy granny square wall hanging for Sophia’s room to cover up the baby monitor wire! When Sophia first saw the finished project, she was home with @Paul while I was out. He told her I made it, and she just smiled and pointed at it and said “Mama! Mama! One of the classes at my studio did a raku firing tonight! You can get a lot of beautiful effects this way, but the pottery does not get hot enough to become waterproof. The students removed hot pieces from the trash can kiln and applied horsehair, feathers, and sugar, which instantly burned and left artistic black marks on the pottery. #pottery #raku #ceramics #clay #art #artstr #grownostr

RIP cute travel mug handle. Seems like it broke when it was being taken out of the kiln. Spent (too much) time trying to repair it with mending paste today, but a handle in three pieces is just too fiddly to repair. Sanded away all evidence it existed instead. Anyway, they do make travel mugs without handles, and this one has particularly thick walls so you should have plenty of time to get your coffee to the car before it heats through! It should be really pretty when finally glazed.
