You know people love to shit on Node.js and dependency hell in it, but dealing with package versions in it has been so much easier than other scripting languages like Python or Ruby. Even major updates in the version tend not to break all that much.

Occult Enby that's making local-first software with peer to peer protocols, mesh networks, and the web.
Yap with me and send me cool links relating to my interests. ๐
When life gets tough, the tough get shitposting.
Wearing my wizard robe with my spells strapped to my face (my deck). Casting evil spells (activitypub implementation) and imbibing wicked elixers (energy drinks).
Gotta wizard max to focus through this cold and meet my deadlines
My house's cat is having lil shivers in her sleep and I'm giving her more comfort to sweeten her dreams.
Very thankful to get to hang with such sweet creatures.
Heads up to any #NodeJS and #JavaScript developers out there: If you aren't already you should be using the Node Version Manager utility since a lot of projects need either an older or newer version of node and you'll have a bad time if you only use the system installed version.
`nvm use 16` saved me hours of debugging why Splunk's build tools weren't working recently :P

A thing that I had a lot of my hopes riding on got cancelled yesterday and my mental house of cards is toppling. I've got so much on my plate for the next few weeks and it's gonna be rough.
Thankfully I am powerful and resilient and will get through it.
Maybe instead of "a new web browser" I should be making "a new app" which fulfills some of my fave bits of the web.
E.g. structured content, small interactive apps, cross platform.
Probably my fourth time playing through jazzpunk and it just doesn't get old.
I think it's only just clicking for me that the death of the web is upon us. Instead of "googling" for stuff folks are searching on tiktok, instead of indexable forums there's closed discord communities. In fact apps and services are becoming locked within proprietary apps like discord. Paired with "ai" language models creating infinite web spam the whole thing is becoming less useful for the average person.
like local-first software, the current state of the web is google-first software
I like to imagine that my spelling mistakes when I type could be read kinda like a computer that's glitching out every now and then.
The fediverse occipies an interesting part of my social sphere where I mostly talk about work stuff (my primary hobby) and random rants.
In contrast I have some small group chats with a few folks from meatspace where I exclusively shitpost and share political toots.
Then in meatspace proper is when I go full goofball mode and also where I share my feelings.
It's fun having different spaces to explore different aspects of myself.
Every api call is a chance for them to make money off your data without your consent. Every stored file will get mined and sold to advertizers and LLMs
Bluh, I feel bad for all the office workers I know that are being forced back into working from the office after getting a taste of remote.
Being fully remote since pre pandemic has made me extremely against being forced back into the commute and the noise. Thankful to be working with other fully remote folks!
Just saw the new ninja turtles movie in "4dx". The moving chairs gave me shaken baby syndrome and the smellovision reminded me of sewage.
10/10 movie, loved those turtle boys. ๐ฅฐ
Ahhhhh. Wish I could split into four people to cover all the stuff I want to do. ๐ญ So much stuff so little energy/time in a day
Gonna make a melee build in Fallout 4 with a character that looks like santa clause. Gonna see how much I can RP as a grizzled saint nick for this round
Fuck bethesda for making you make an account to play a singleplayer game. Paid 90 bucks for this shit and now I need to give them extra personal information to play it. I hate what game studios have come to and I hate tech's obsession with cloud shit and user tracking.
Have I mentioned that I hate gmail? Their oauth login thing makes logging in with alternative clients a huge pain in the ass, and it's regular login requires a bunch of hoops to jump through and even then it barely works.
Really tired of this shit and that so many orgs require using it for "work email".
The calendar is also a pain.
People capitulating to megacorps ruining open protocols fills me with despair and is a recurring paint point.
Bluh, brain is super poopy today but I have so much to do. ๐ญ Excited to get some stuff off my plateand to build up a team to delegate some other stuff down the line.
