Wasted my whole day house hunting. Landlords in Ottawa are charging so much for so little and make you jump through a bunch of hoops just to ask permission to give them all your money to leech.

It'd be cool if all the chat apps could be consumed with fediverse bridges with private indexed activityfeeds as the consumer api. Then you could take all your data and dynamically view it either as twitter, a chat. Reddit, w/e else based on what you're feeling in the moment

Walking around with my samsung dex set up chatting with folks and reading blogs was a success. Got my flesh suit some outdoor time to boot. I look like a complete and total weirdo doing it, but the glasses are just a small part of that aspect 😅

Yeah I really need a one handed keyboard to go with my rokid + DEX setup when I'm walking around, I think touch screen keyboards just don't do it for me

Fun fact: the amount of physical pain I get from each keypress of fixing typos is way higher than the emotional pain of people judging me for spelling errors.

Walking around outside I appreciate trees more and more. Their shade is so lovely under the hot sun and they do such a good job of shaping the breeze and smells of an area. the life of a forest hermit beckons 😭

Just looked at a house in a recently developed auburban zone. Absolute nightmare. All those trees torn down for rows and rows of identical gray houses with nothing to walk to but a copy psted childrens park with again zero trees. All with like 20 mins drive to anything with humanity.

I think my philosophy when making software is that it should work for people with zero money or no bank account / credit card. I know it's not a popular mindset to be in since money and profit is everything in the tech world. I think it comes from growing up as a kid with no disposable income or access to anything but my shitty computer. I'd rather support people with almost nothing than people with latest and greatest tech gizmos and spare cash for subscription services. 😅

Been hanging out at local libraries to get a bit more aquainted with them. Apparently one of them has a makerspace. Gonna see about running some workshops or something for teaching folks to program. The hardest part would be logistics since the library only really offers chromebooks for folks to borrow. :/

Apparently the #rokid Max has a button that turns on "3d mode" by presenting the two eyes as separate (or was it extended?) displays. I'm planning to use this for shenanigans by having different windows presented in each eye. E.g. on my left I can have my chats and references, and on my right I can have my terminals / editors. It's likely it won't just work out of the box, but it'd be fun if it did. :P
