I’ve used Umbrel as a bitcoin node for a while, and have recently started using #[0] and love it!
Great move to allow https over the local network for better security, but also the option for remote tor access. A solid OS.
#bitcoin
When one crisis comes, we invent tools that fix it. When that tool creates the next crisis, human ingenuity finds a way to mitigate or eliminate it, but too often, we catastrophize the problems of today extrapolating them into the future without realizing, that with a little thought and effort, we'll find a way.
#bitcoin mining won't destroy the planet, in fact, it may just be the thing that saves it as it drives innovation.
Yes the present can be murky, but the road is long and innovation driven by need often comes faster than we think.
Thought it would be fun to see what a very generic Midjourney prompt “design for bitcoin t-shirt black background” would deliver.
The person in the result seems familiar. 🤔
The power of an idea. Nostr brings to bear the power of the Internet’s original intent: Decentralized communication pathways resilient against mass catastrophe.
Centralized communication gateways are convenient, but also nearly stifle the original intent.
-one company for the majority of all emails sent
-one company providing access to the “town square”
-one company controlling nearly all user video content, etc.
The centralization risks are huge.
-Service goes down, no more email, messages, or user videos.
-Single point for government control (shut off access, censoring, manipulative pressure, etc.)
-immense power given into the hands of just a few, that even with good intent can be horribly abused
Decentralization, on the other hand, is what the founders of the U.S. were after (not perfect, but one of the best shots ever): take the power from a central authority and decentralize it. Limit it. Check it.
Push the power as far down as possible into the hands of the people.
As power centralizes in corporations and governments, remember that #nostr and #bitcoin are the answer—the solution to the problem of too much power taken by too few.
These tools are literally power to the people. “We hold these truths to be self-evident…”
The solution does not require coercion, violence, or force, it’s an exit into a new world resilient to any catastrophe, challenge, or difficulty, and most importantly, abuse of power.
That’s why we’re here.
And also funny memes. There’s that too.
There’s that moment when you realize your Friday is coming to an end, and it makes you sad.
Then there’s that moment when you realize that, hey, today is Thursday!
There’s a whole new Friday about to be born!
Question is, what ever happened to Wednesday? 🤔
In other news. New version of Ubuntu out today. Great way to make use of old (or new) hardware.
Old computers past their prime, and security update lifecycle, can get a renewed start on life with Linux. Makes my heart happy just thinking about it. Got two machines upgraded today. 🧑💻
