#WelcometoNostr Glad you're here! Day 8 of #MarchOffTwitter If user/display names aren't unique how can you trust who is who? Centralized platforms haven't been able to prevent from scammers/jokesters from pretending to be big name accounts. Nostr takes a different approach. On Nostr, we verify ourselves. Thank you very much. That's where the purple check (as displayed on many clients) comes in. Think of checkmark as being verified by a domain like an email. There can be thousands of emails with the username prefix Jack, but only one Jack@protonmail.com for example. A NIP-05 Verification is basically a domain saying that it will vouch for your account. You can have your own domain give your account the check by adding a simple file and a little configuration tweak. Or you can have a service like NostrVerified check your Nostr Identity against your Twitter Account. Other NIP-05 verifiers will give the badge for a small fee. It can be any domain in theory. I really like the ability to verify through your own domain/website if you have one. You're not reliant on someone else to verify. Your unique public key is what really identifies you. When you "@" mention someone, the behind-the-scenes workings points to unique public key. But can't people impersonate each other by having the same display name? Ah, that's where NIP-05 comes in (tomorrow's tip). Even though user/display names aren't unique. You are. Express your interests likes and thoughts on #nostr Have fun. Be uniquely you. There's only one after all.

Nice that the #nostr "good ol' days" are here. Thing is, they're here to stay.

-- Nostr No Comment -- On YouTube and Wordpress, a creator can opt to turn off comments (at post or account level). It can be used to stop harassment, threats, scams, or for businesses that just want to post announcements. Nostr is more than just a twitter replacement. It could be the next advancement in blogs, replace YouTube, etc. A comment-free nostr note could still be be reposted and discussed by others, retaining the social aspect. #[0]​ #[1]​ #[2]​ and everyone else, what do you think about having the ability, for users that want it, to turn off comments on a post or at the account level?

#WelcometoNostr Day 3 aka March 3rd of #MarchOffTwitter How to post an image. When I started, I couldn't find anything that indicated how to post an image on Nostr. After a little guesswork, it worked. For those who may be wondering, here's how. As of the current date, there's no upload a picture button. I believe this will come with future client updates. Right now, your image needs to simply be posted somewhere on the Internet. To get it in your Nostr note/post, copy the full url to the image. It will usually start with https and end with .jpg You can host your image pretty much anywhere you can get the url. #[2]​ runs Nostr Build to help with this. Where you can upload a file and get the url to post into your Nostr note. Easy peezy!
