So I mentioned a boat sank earlier... Just as I'd got off my boat and was getting changed ready to go to the marina, I heard a crunch and looked up to see a boat where a boat shouldn't be. He's the little yellow bit, next to the shingle bank. image Fearing a medical emergency, I went over to see what's what. He'd beached and signalled that the boat was dead, so I asked if he needed any help. He said no, but I stuck around to watch. image Just as well I did, he went to jump off the side, to what looked like the shingle bank and he *should* have been okay, but the channel runs deep and he disappeared under the water. No pics. I was too busy sitting myself thinking I'd have to jump in. Guys in his mid sixties. He got out, having failed to find the hole. Common for men jokes aside, it became clear he was sinking and the tide, which had been very low, was moving in more and more. I watched and offered to help off load goods while we could still reach across, but it became clear that she was going down and starting to list. Fortunately another boat came by and they offloaded his gear, including what electronics he could salvage, so I waited to be sure he was off safely. image By this point he was still talking to us on shore, and we pointed out that he was starting to list badly and was close to taking on water straight over the side. Fortunately he got off just in time. She went over, within 5 minutes of it starting to go over the side. image Fortunately some 6 hours later, at the height of the tide, the Harbour Master put out a notice to inform mariners about the danger. No mention of what he hit to cause him to sink though. It was a stupidly low tide but any dangers should be marked. I suspect an insurance claim incoming. #boatlife

What a morning - just watched a boat sink (pics later) and now the skipper is safe, I've wandered up to the marina for an Emglish Breakfast and a cup off coffee, out in the sun. Grateful to be here and grateful it wasn't me sinking. image

Bed by 10, up by 5, sat and watched the sunrise and now taking a wander along the beach, again. This is how I picture my retirement looking like. This and the part time job to keep me busy and connected. So I guess, in a way, that means I'm basically retired. I'll take that. GM #nostr ๐Ÿฅณ image

From a beautiful sunrise ๐ŸŒ… to a peaceful walk along the beach โ›ฑ๏ธ to the allotment, where I'm tending to my food and planting some more seeds. I know not every day will be like this, but just enough of them are to make the rest worthwhile. image

I just spoke with my 22yo daughter and she decided to remind me of how I let her watch a gory zombie flick when she was waaaay too young and she had terrible nightmares for weeks... So I reminded her of how her mother would let her watch South Park at 2 or 3 or 4 years old and how she got in to trouble for teaching her nursery/school mates the Uncle Fucker song from said show. Yes, that's now the second time I've used that anecdote to deflect from my terrible parenting ๐Ÿ˜† Somehow she made it to adulthood as a decent polite well adjusted young lady ๐Ÿ˜„ Proper miracle ๐Ÿ‘Œ ๐Ÿ™

Can't believe what a lovely day it's been today - normally I'd have been at the fiat mine, but instead I'm on annual leave, I've been out for breakfast, sat on the beach and roasted, wandered through town...no stress, no worries, it's lush.

Today I finally gave in to reality and brought my first pair of jeans with a 36 inch waist. I've been in 34/34 for years and now...well, I'm 45, I'm allowed. #middleagestr

GM #nostr ๐Ÿฅณ first day of the 9 day break, not gonna be an overly productive one. Unless I end up clearing the boat, tending to the allotment or otherwise finding things to do. It's a real risk if I'm not careful. Pray for me ๐Ÿ™
