to maximise your chances of getting rich, you'd have to be involved with everyone and everything at all times. nobody took Apple seriously when they first started. the prototype they presented to investors looked like crap. somebody just happened to take a chance on it, in a "well, fuck it" moment.

i've seen this "thing that started out as a toy" thing play out several times. you can never predict what will stay a toy and what will grow bigger. it's down to luck whether you chose to play with one toy or another 10 years ago, as far as i'm concerned.

i don't actually have all that much respect for early holders of Bitcoin because i heard about Bitcoin on Slashdot when it first came out and could have gotten some Bitcoin at that point. thing is that no one saw it as anything but a nerd's toy at the time. i think the people who got into it at the time were just playful. at the time, being interested in Bitcoin was like being interested in Monopoly money or some other game like Rubik's cubes. "fun plaything." and if you just so happened to like computer toys, you might make a Bitcoin wallet as a kind of game. and this toy that you dicked around with a decade ago suddenly became very valuable. i wasn't the type to dick around with toys so i didn't get a wallet at the time. i'm not sure how this makes you particularly respectable.

still quite new here, so i might find my place, but it's a bit rough at the moment compared to my main home on Mastodon. i'm mostly settled as far as my identity is concerned though, as you might expect out of a fully grown adult, so WYSIWYG.

and the lesser degree of engagement i'm getting on here on average is making me somewhat less inclined to pass it on. the lesser amount of generosity is contagious, in other words. this place just feels a bit colder.

after spending ~24 hours on here, first impression is that the social dynamic is a bit more Twitter-like on here, because it's more difficult to get likes, boosts and follows compared to Mastodon. Twitter was a complete desert to me. Mastodon was an oasis. this is somewhere in between.

Bitcoin doesn't fix anything if you haven't got any income stability or endurance for money management to begin with. any time i tried to have holdings in Bitcoin, i ran out of cash and needed to exit at inopportune times.

you could point to Tupperware as successful multi-level marketing but i doubt any housewives got rich off it. Mr. Tupper, however? yeah...

in English, you call them Ponzi schemes in Norwegian, we call them "pyramidespill" - pyramid games

having been in the computer business for a long time, i've seen several decentralised networks make the same mistakes over and over again, and those same mistakes being solved in similar ways eventually.

"relay(s) originally posted to" ought to be a part of the metadata of a Nostr post, so if a post travels beyond those relays, engagements with that post can be broadcasted back to the original relay(s) by clients.
